Role

Are you passionate about women and children’s rights? Do you have the skills, knowledge, and experience to contribute to an organisation which is making a difference in our community?

About us

CASWA offers support to women and their children who have been abused by a partner or former partner in the Caithness & Sutherland area. We work closely with a range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations.

We are looking for diverse, motivated, and enthusiastic women who are committed to our vision to join our board of directors for the organisation.

The role

“We are proud to be part of an organisation that works within the community, to support women and children who are going through some of the most difficult times in their lives. And we are proud to lead a team who are so connected to their work.”

The board sets the strategic direction of the organisation and will ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met, and best practice is promoted. As a board member, you will be required to contribute to the governance of the organisation including attending bi-monthly board meetings and the AGM. You may be asked to undertake other duties such as representing the organisation at external events or in the media; or assisting with fundraising, network or influencing work. In return you will receive all reasonable expenses, a comprehensive training and support programme and the knowledge that you have helped to make some women, children and young people in Caithness and Sutherland safer and more secure.

Application notes

CASWA welcomes applications from women from all sectors of the community, including those who have previously utilised women’s aid services or who have been subject to domestic abuse. As a women only organisation and under the terms of our governing document only women are eligible to apply.
