About the Role:

As a Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a team in providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for the people who use our services. You’ll do this by providing practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives.

Main Responsibilities:

This Support Worker role working at Abercorn involves working on a rota covering a variety of shift patterns including some weekends. This role is 35 hours per week. The Support Worker will:

• work as part of a team providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for homeless people.
• support, review, monitor and evaluate through our case management system, to achieve a positive person-centred outcome for the people we work with in line with organisational, statutory and legislative requirements.
• maintain and update all recording systems and documentation in line with relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines, including the occupancy agreement, within required timeframes.
• provide, plan and facilitate key work meetings, key work sessions, meetings, reviews and other internal/external meetings in conjunction with the person’s support plan.
• provide general advocacy and advice to the people we support, including assistance to enable them to meet the conditions of their occupancy agreements.

About You:

• To join us, you need to have a genuine passion for helping people.
• Ideally, possess 1 year of experience of working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviour which can be from personal, voluntary and/or professional experience.
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to undertake care practice in accordance with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) code of practice, National Care Standards, Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and the Associations policies and procedures.
• Ability to relate empathetically to people and recognise their right to choice and independence.
• Ability to work flexibly and as a lone worker.
• Able to use Microsoft or equivalent applications competently.
• Ideally, hold and SVQ level 2 or above and be willing to work towards an SVQ 3.

Purpose & Context of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

A project worker will demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people by managing outcomes for young people through use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies, and procedures.

The key responsibilities of the Project Worker include, but are not limited to:

Service Delivery

• To build relationships and deliver outcome-based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
• To be available for young people and families at critical times
• To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning.
• To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
• To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
• To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making.

People

• To understand the different coping mechanisms that young people and their families use to deal with stress and high emotions, and to respond appropriately.
• To demonstrate professional resilience when providing support with sensitive or challenging issues
• To use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals facing adversity to find solutions and make positive changes, ensuring resources are in place to sustain these changes.
• To establish mutually trusting, open and non-judgemental relationship with young people and their families
• To encourage and lead collaborative team work to provide a ‘scaffolding of support’ around each young person and their family.
• To respect and value the contribution of wider stakeholders and the delivery of includem services.
• Where opportunity allows experience of directing, supporting, and mentoring Assistant Project Workers/Sessional staff.
• Any other duties as designated by your line manager.

Bereavement Support Administrator (part-time) Glasgow

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies.

We support children and young people (up to the age of 25)

When someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying.

We provide training to professionals in health and social care, education, and the voluntary and corporate sectors, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated person to provide timely and appropriate support to our Bereavement Support Services in Scotland. The post holder will be required to handle a wide range of administrative support related tasks and maintain efficient administrative systems to support the Family Support Service in Glasgow, Hospital Team based at hospitals across Greater Glasgow and Clyde and our Scottish Development Project.

This a part-time role of 3 days per week 22.5 hours.

The Programme Manager is a key role in delivering on our work to transform lives, change attitudes and help to create a society that works for autistic adults and children.

The Programme Manager oversees a team of staff delivering on a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes of support which directly benefit autistic people and their families in Scotland.

In doing so the Programme Manager ensures that our support is of high quality, targets are met, budgets are scrutinised, safeguarding protocols are followed and outcomes effectively reported on.

To do this we are looking for an individual that has experience in over overseeing projects and programmes as well as experience in managing a team and reporting on progress both internally but also to funders.

The Programme Manager is also part of the senior team in Scotland and has a role in implementing our three-year strategy ‘From Vision to Reality’ as well as input into all our activity in Scotland as well as working with the wider team at a UK level.
