This is a great opportunity to join our successful and award-winning community food growing project in the east end of Glasgow. Via the medium of food growing the SCGP aims to address a wide range of poverty-related issues in the local area and has developed services and activities to improve the health and well-being of local people, improve employability through volunteering, provide positive opportunities for children and families and to build the social capital of the community.

The Project Worker will support the Project Manager in the day-to-day running of the Project and will enable individual users and groups to learn about and practice vegetable and fruit growing, healthy eating and lifestyles, and cooking and will facilitate and organise activities and events to promote these aims.

We are seeking someone with an awareness and experience of food growing and a good understanding of food poverty issues and the benefits of healthy eating. You will have a community development or other relevant qualification.

Main purpose-

To develop and assist in the delivery of the day-to-day operations of Shettleston Community Growing Project, ensuring a high-quality service in line with the ethos, values, protocols and service standards of SCGP, funders agreed outcomes and local/ national objectives.

Main Duties-

To promote effective working relationships with other community groups, voluntary organisations and the general community.

To support the Project Manager in the delivery of specific project work and management of daily operations, including working and managing volunteers and volunteer activities.

To coordinate and attend meetings, seminars etc. on behalf of SCGP.

Plan, organise and facilitate community gardening and food growing projects and events.

Positively engage with the residents of Shettleston and surrounding areas.

Identify opportunities for the delivery of current and future developments of the project.

Assist with evaluations and monitoring of projects.

Promote the project through a range of communications
