Role

VOCAL is the Voice of Carers across Lothian, a Scottish charity run by carers and for carers since 1994. We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Community Development Officer to join the team at our busy Carers’ Centre in Dalkeith.

Working closely with VOCAL’s service leads, the Community Development Officer will play a central role in mapping and developing links with community groups, partners and organisations across Midlothian to raise carer awareness, improve early carer identification and ensure carers are connected to local supports.

Applicants will have experience in a comparable position and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in developing community resources, supports or groups including community engagement.

Applicants will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by unpaid carers and a passion for improving carer support within the community.
