Edinburgh Young Carers is seeking a suitably experienced and qualified applicant to join the service in developing and providing high quality support to young carers in Edinburgh between the ages of 5 and 25 years, focused primarily on our 10-12s service.

The post-holder will work alongside colleagues to raise awareness of young carers and their support needs, identify hidden young carers, and develop and provide support plans to ensure that young carers identified personal outcomes are being met, in accordance with the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.

The candidate will need to be suitably qualified and experienced in working with children and young people, with at least three years proven experience in a role including individual and group work.

An exciting position has become available for a Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) Worker based in our small established team covering West Lothian. The service provides swift access to a compassionate response and provision of short-term support to assist people to deal with their experience of distress. The service is part of the national Scottish Government DBI programme and works in keeping with their policies and guidelines.

An understanding of mental health issues.

Ability to treat people in a non-judgemental and supportive manner.

Able to work independently in a proactive manner.

Confident in working closely with other professionals, G.P.’s, and community agencies.

Able to contribute to and work in conjunction with fellow staff to support organisational initiatives and developments in a uniform and positive manner.

Basic IT skills, working knowledge of office 365 desirable.

Community Volunteers Enabling You (COVEY) has operated across Lanarkshire for 32 years supporting 5,000 children, young people and parents/carers to become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential. COVEY provides 1-1 and group-based befriending, mentoring and family support.

COVEY is seeking a passionate, professional and proactive individual to provide support to families who are experiencing difficulties or challenges in their everyday lives such as isolation, mental and physical health problems, disability, poverty and trauma. This involves direct work with children, young people, parents/carers and whole families via 1-1 intervention/support and group-based mentoring.

The successful candidate will provide person centred, relationship-based support to children, young people and parents/carers to help them identify and address short-term needs (strengthening confidence, wellbeing and family/community relationships) and support long-term aspirations into positive destinations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals, manage complex cases, and support volunteer mentors.
