Role

Barnardo's Child & Family Support Service Dundee is looking for flexible and enthusiastic people to join our team providing as and when support in assistant project worker, play leader and personal assistant roles. These roles involve supporting children, young people and families in the Dundee locality who may have a disability, additional support need and/or impacted by adverse childhood experiences.

You will experience job satisfaction and play a significant part in making a difference in the lives of the children, young people and their families. You will support them to build self-esteem and provide opportunities for them to socialise with their peers and engage in their local communities. This support also provides much needed respite for parents/carers to have time away from their caring roles.

We use a whole family, relationship-based approach to build trust with the children/young people and their families to develop their resilience and wellbeing and to feel included and supported within their communities.

A flexible approach is essential to providing support when children/young people and families need it which includes:

  • Group work during school holiday periods and during term time.
  • After school, evening and weekend support
  • Weekly, twice weekly or fortnightly basis, dependent on the individual need of the child/young person.
  • Building confidence, providing opportunities to engage in the local community, being a listening ear, promoting positive family dynamics and promoting health and wellbeing.
