Every day, people across Scotland are adjusting to life following a diagnosis of a chest or heart condition, after experiencing a stroke or dealing with Long Covid. At Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS), Scotland's leading health charity, we're working to ensure there is No Life Half Lived, and you could play a vital role in making that happen.
We provide a range of services, notably through our Community Healthcare Support Service, which delivers supported self management and recovery services across Scotland.
By joining CHSS as a Volunteering Officer, you’ll have a real opportunity to help people move beyond simply surviving, towards managing their health, regaining confidence and independence and connecting with their communities.
About the Role
The Volunteering Officer (Recruitment, Induction & Training) role is a pivotal opportunity to turn ambition into action. You will lead the drive to recruit, welcome, induct and train hundreds of volunteers, who will bring our community self-management model to life—building a passionate, confident and diverse volunteer community that can reach more people, in more places. By delivering an exceptional journey from first enquiry to active involvement, you will help deliver our ambitious strategy and enable people living with long-term conditions across Scotland to access the supported self-management they need to live their lives well.
You will promote volunteering opportunities in your community, respond to enquiries and support prospective volunteers through application, interview, checks, induction and training. You will maintain regular engagement, help remove barriers to ensure an accessible and inclusive experience, coordinate handovers to service delivery teams, and track progress against agreed recruitment and training targets.
The role will be assigned a primary geographic area for volunteer recruitment, with occasional travel across Scotland required to support colleagues and service delivery need.
