We are looking for an exceptional person to join our Board of Trustees as Chair
Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for those who are unable live with their birth parents. Our purpose is to secure the right support at the right time for children and young people who are unable to live with their birth parents, from childhood into adulthood.
You’ll have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience to lead our welcoming and dedicated Board. You will be expected to:
- Oversee the implementation of Adoption UK’s strategy
- Support the senior leadership team, adding value and expert advice
- Facilitate change that promotes the care and welfare of those unable to live with their birth parents, and their families
- Ensure the charity remains true to its purpose and adheres to its regulatory responsibilities

Venture Scotland offers a long-term, outdoor-based personal development programme which empowers young people aged 16-30 and adults in addiction recovery, who face complex and difficult challenges in their lives, to create and sustain change. We focus on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our participants, working with them both in group settings and 1-2-1, to make lasting changes in their lives and help them play a positive role in their communities.
We are seeking a CEO, who identifies with our values of Trust, Respect, Belonging, Compassion and Empowering, to lead our team to deliver on our strategy. Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation and you will support our volunteer team and young ambassador programme. We welcome applications from diverse communities.
As the key leader within our organisation, the CEO evaluates, supports and develops volunteers and staff, manages logistics and ensures the highest standards of safety while building on our caring, open, collaborative and inclusive work culture.
As CEO within the organisation, you will also manage and work closely alongside the Senior Management Team comprising Programme Delivery manager, Finance and Administration Manager and Fundraising Manager to use your skills and experience to lead the organisation forward. You will report directly to the Chair and Board of trustees.

The post
Your role will be to assist me in my home life and other activities. This will include all personal care and a range of domestic and social tasks.
About me
I am an experienced PA employer and have been employing my own staff for twelve years. I have cerebral palsy, which affects the use of my limbs. I can walk short distances with the aid of my stick and assistance from a PA. However, I generally use a power chair when out and about for mobility purposes.
Personal qualities
I am looking for someone who is reliable and enthusiastic. Somebody open-minded with a sense of humor You will be required to drive my Motability vehicle ,you must be over 25 to do this. UK driver’s licence is therefore required
Hours and rate of pay
The post is for 15-20 hours per week,(more hours will be available). You will be working Mon-Fri. Shifts will be 3 or 4 hours per day either depending on my needs that day. More hours also available to cover holidays and illness. Flexibility will be required.
The rate of pay is £13.65 per hour
The post will be offered based on the completion of paid trial shift(s), this will be confirmed at interview.
Make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families.
STAND is a Fife charity led by people with lived experience of dementia. We believe that life doesn’t stop with a diagnosis — people can continue to grow, connect and enjoy new experiences. Nine trustees currently sit on STAND's Board of Trustees and, as a peer-led charity, three (including the Chairperson) live with dementia, three are/were carers and three have professional backgrounds.
We are currently seeking the following new Trustees to share with us their experience, talents, and passions:
- Trustee Secretary (further details attached)
- Trustee (ideally with experience in fundraising, but experience in campaigning, marketing, HR, creative pursuits or digital technology would also be beneficial).
Insight or personal experience of dementia or caring responsibilities would be an advantage. The STAND team is friendly and supportive, and you will be working with the charity's Development Lead and Administration Officer alongside trustees, volunteers, staff and members of the charity.
The Board of Trustees currently convenes every six weeks (usually from 2.00pm – 3.30pm), with the AGM in the autumn. Office Bearers and senior staff meetings usually take place quarterly. Most meetings are held in Kirkcaldy and travel expenses are reimbursed up to 30 miles from Kirkcaldy. Rarely, an additional Extraordinary General Meeting of the Board may take place.
Between meetings, it will be necessary to work remotely.

We are looking for two exceptional people to join Adoption UK’s Board of Trustees.
As a Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your unique skills and experience to lead our welcoming and dedicated Board. You will be expected to:
- Oversee the implementation of Adoption UK’s strategy
- Support the senior leadership team, adding value and expert advice
- Facilitate change that promotes the care and welfare of those unable to live with their birth parents, and their families
- Ensure the charity remains true to its purpose and adheres to its regulatory responsibilities
As a UK wide charity, we aim to have representation on our Board from all constituent nations, and across a variety of backgrounds and lived experience. At this time, we are looking to appoint someone from Scotland and are looking for other trustees with financial or charity management expertise. Professional or lived experience of the adoption or social care sector is desirable, but not essential.
