Role
Birthlink is in a period of significant organisational transformation. We are modernising systems, strengthening accountability, addressing legacy challenges, and resetting our culture to ensure consistent, trauma informed, safe and compliant practice across all service areas. We are looking for an exceptional Director to lead this next phase of development with clarity, authority, compassion and a strong values driven approach.
Birthlink supports adopted adults and care experienced people to access their records, understand their personal history, reconnect with family, and navigate complex statutory processes. We also support survivors of abuse in care to access information that informs their personal statements and applications to Scotland’s Redress Scheme.
We operate Scotland’s national Post Adoption Service, including the Adoption Contact Register (ACR), we are also a key Delivery Partner in Scotland’s Redress Scheme and Future Pathways Care Connect. Our Thrift Shops provide both vital revenue and meaningful community engagement.
Our work sits within a highly scrutinised national landscape shaped by the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry, the wider Adoption and Care Experienced Policy Agenda, and evolving expectations around information governance, digital security, and access to historical records.
We are seeking a Director who can provide decisive strategic leadership, strengthen governance, modernise systems, and embed a culture where professional standards, transparency and responsibility are non negotiable. You will lead a cultural reset, address resistance where required, and ensure Birthlink operates with the discipline, compassion and trauma informed practice our beneficiaries deserve. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees, managers, funders, regulatory bodies and sector partners to increase Birthlink’s national influence and external profile.
You will bring substantial experience in governance, finance, performance and risk management, organisational development, and strategic planning. You will be confident navigating complex political, social and regulatory environments, and you will understand the challenges faced by people seeking access to historic records and information. You will be an impactful communicator, a credible spokesperson, and an experienced leader.

Birthlink is seeking an experienced, compassionate Manager to lead the operational delivery of our Redress service, a central part of our work supporting care experienced people and survivors of abuse in care. This pivotal role will oversee day to day service delivery across key organisational activity, ensuring safe, trauma informed, rights based practice throughout the Redress process.
You will guide and support a hybrid team, strengthen operational systems, and ensure full compliance with legal frameworks including the Redress for Survivors (Historical Child Abuse in Care) (Scotland) Act 2021, UK GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018. Working closely with the Executive Director, funders, partners, and beneficiaries, you will help shape Birthlink’s national contribution to improving access to records and supporting people through Redress.
Alongside leading Birthlink’s Redress service, you may also contribute to the development or oversight of other aligned projects as required.

Project Partnership Lead – Weave Partnership

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Families Outside as our Project Partnership Lead for the Weave Partnership. If you are experienced and passionate about working in partnership and developing the infrastructure to make a lasting difference for families impacted by imprisonment, we want to hear from you.
This role works closely with the Families Outside Director of Services, the Family Support Team, and the Weave Partnership, funded by the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Support Fund. The Weave Partnership is made up of One Parent Families Scotland, Relationships Scotland (along with their 21 Member Services), Families Outside, and Fife Gingerbread - four organisations whose capabilities are complementary, whose values are shared, and whose combined reach would create something new and unique that none of our organisations could achieve alone. The partnership aims to deliver sustained, measurable improvements for single-parent families across Scotland through holistic, place-based whole-family support and, using the new ‘My Life and Me’ framework, it will create a ‘no wrong door’ approach.

The Role:
At Families Outside, we're the only national charity in Scotland working solely to support families affected by imprisonment. Joining the Weave Partnership alongside lead partner One Parent Families Scotland, Relationships Scotland, and Fife Gingerbread, the Project Partnership Lead provides the key role to oversee and develop Families Outside’s role within this project. They will:
- Coordinate Families Outside’s involvement in the Weave Partnership at a delivery level.
- Lead the development of evaluation, data capture, and the database in relation to family support, embedding shared Weave Partnership criteria into data gathering and reporting.
- Develop relationships to raise awareness of the Partnership, referral processes, and access to relevant resources for families.
- Engage with key agencies to embed a Whole Family approach and prevention of child poverty.
About You:
We are looking for an individual who is:
- Experienced in working with partner agencies and in developing robust processes for data collection, recording, and evaluation
- Rights-focused and trauma-informed in their work and all they do
- Skilled and knowledgeable in working with people to overcome challenges they face in their day-to-day lives
- A confident and effective contributor to working in partnership with others to meet families’ needs
- Willing and able to travel throughout Scotland to develop and promote the project

You will also be responsible for overseeing and developing our established national advice and debt services.
