The Green Team is looking for an experienced, collaborative and solutions-focused Finance & Corporate Services Manager to take operational ownership of our finance function and help ensure the systems supporting our charity are effective, secure and resilient.

The Green Team is an environmental charity supporting children and young people to connect with nature, build confidence, develop skills and improve wellbeing through outdoor learning and environmental action.

This is a key role within our small and friendly team, combining hands-on charity finance management with oversight and coordination of wider corporate systems.

Significant charity finance experience and strong practical Xero expertise are essential.

What You'll Do

Working closely with our Co-CEO Corporate Development, wider staff team, Treasurer and Trustees, you will:

• take operational ownership of Green Team's day-to-day finance function;
• manage and continually improve Xero and associated financial systems;
• produce monthly management accounts, budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial reports;
• manage restricted and unrestricted funds and support programme and funder reporting;
• oversee payroll, pensions, banking, payments, reconciliations and financial controls;
• support preparation of annual accounts and coordinate with our external accountants;
• provide clear and practical financial advice to colleagues and budget holders;
• help strengthen financial procedures, reporting and organisational systems; and
• coordinate key corporate services including IT systems, cyber security arrangements, business continuity, insurance and contracts.

You will not be expected to provide specialist technical IT or cyber security support. We work with external providers for this expertise.

What We're Looking For

You will have:

• significant practical charity or third-sector finance experience, supported by a relevant accounting/bookkeeping qualification or substantial equivalent professional experience;
• strong practical Xero experience, including reviewing, developing or improving Xero systems;
• a good understanding of restricted and unrestricted funds and grant-funded project finance;
• experience of management accounts, budgeting, cashflow, payroll and financial controls;
• experience supporting annual accounts and working with accountants, auditors or independent examiners;
• excellent organisational skills and attention to detail; and
• the ability to make financial information clear and accessible to people without a finance background.

Green Team 2025 Impact Report

Lochwinnoch Community Larder is one of the busiest community pantries in Scotland. We operate on dignified food principles, working to tackle the climate emergency through distribution of food which is otherwise destined for landfill, and food we grow ourselves locally. We are also addressing food insecurity for a wide rural population. Our success has attracted more than 2000 members to us from over 850 households from across Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire. Our activities include:

• A pantry which is open 4 days per week
• A community fridge & freezer which are accessible 24/7
• Courses of cooking classes and food demonstrations in fermenting
• Signposting to other support services
• Creating meaningful volunteering opportunities for people of all ages

It is a physical role which will require some lifting and period of time spent on your feet. The location for the project is within a vibrant social garden space which is also home to a Men’s Shed project, an outdoor children’s childcare group and our own food growing site.

Offering volunteering opportunities is as important as any other part of our work, and a focus of this role will be managing and developing those individuals to ensure the work is meaningful and their development is prioritised.

• This role is offered at £29225 FTE.
• Benefits include 6% workplace pension and 35 days holiday (pro rata) per annum.
• The contract is for 6 months initially, with the expectation that it will be extended on the basis of performance and funding availability.
• Hours of work will be 24 per week. While the majority of hours will be between 9.30am and 2.30 pm, there will some evening and weekend working. A preferred work schedule can be supplied on application.

A suitable candidate will be required to undergo a PVG check. Where a successful candidates does not already have Food Hygiene Level 2, they will be asked to complete relevant training.

DUTIES:

General

• Day-to-day facilitation of service;
  • Setting up and packing down shifts
  • Carrying out fridge temperature checks
  • Printing labels and safe food handling
  • Welcoming members
  • Handling and weighing food, and managing stock
• Supervising team of volunteers across varied duties including manning the Larder, food parcel delivery, collecting food from supermarkets
• Carrying out volunteer inductions and on-the-job training
• Completing volunteer rotas
• Hosting monthly volunteer meetings
• Administration and updating of digital records
• Assisting with duties at growing site such as watering plants - liaising with Food Growing Coordinator
• Promoting service on social media and updating website
• Building relationships locally with other groups and organisations
• Assisting to organise occasional cooking classes and food workshops, and other events as required
• Engaging members and handling referrals, signposting to other support services where appropriate
• Arranging added value workshops, surgeries and information days on-site and online via the Larder service with partner orgs: looking at ways we can sign-post to other services such as CAB, AdviceWorks, Renfrewshire FoodBank, RACA, HomeStart, Kairos, RAMH etc.
• Being responsible for facilities on-site relating to the project and its assets
• Identifying, developing and delivering opportunities for mini-projects and community participative events
• Liaising with food providers with regard to collections and cascading information to the volunteers
• Handling financial donations and cashier duties
• General administrative and practical duties

REQUIREMENTS:

For this role we are seeking someone with a stable work history and demonstrated experience of working in an autonomous role. You need to be able to manage your own tasks and workload independently, lead a team, and respond to changing circumstances and challenges effectively. It is a role where following processes and rules is imperative, and where you will often be required to develop and improve processes to ensure smooth running. It is also a people- focussed role; spending time with members and volunteers and creating a friendly and inclusive environment is of primary importance. You should have:

• Skills and experience in leading or supervising other people
• Administrative skills and IT literacy
• Strong communication skills, demonstrated through previous employment history
• A clean driving license and your own car
• Eligibility for PVG scheme (enhanced criminal records check)
• A can-do attitude and the ability to problem solve

Desirable requirements:

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Training
• Experience of working with volunteers in a community project

The WARMTH / Energy Advice Worker will promote & help deliver the WARMTH project & contribute to the general work of the Stirling CAB Energy Advice team, providing a tariff, energy efficiency, income maximisation and fuel debt & advice & support service for families, older people & the public, whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in cold, hard to heat housing within Stirling District.

WARMTH will locally advertise and integrate access to its services for this client group by linking into the established Stirling CAB weekly outreach architecture. In addition, WARMTH will link in with NHS stakeholders & offer home visiting to Elderly People/People with disabilities housebound by virtue of sickness, disability, childcare/care commitments, poverty or poor public transport infrastructure.

Awareness of WARMTH will be developed through our existing links with Community Councils and by utilising our established relationships with local communities and local stakeholder groups.

The WARMTH/Energy Adviser will help educate and inform, enable and empower clients to take appropriate action to reduce their fuel usage by delivering tariff, energy efficiency, income maximisation and fuel debt advice & support

The WARMTH/Energy Adviser will record, monitor & report WARMTH/ Energy Advice activity in line with the funders’ requirements.

Stirling CAB is an innovative, collaborative and progressive Bureau and is both well connected & trusted by a wide range of health & wellbeing partners & stakeholders.

The WARMTH/Energy Adviser will provide advice which fulfils the objectives of the WARMTH/ Energy Advice projects – maximise income, tariff analysis, energy efficiency advice and fuel debt advice and support - e.g. self – disconnection support, fuel vouchers, discretionary hardship funds, food banks etc.

Any other duties that could reasonably be requested by Stirling CAB.

Glasgow Building Preservation Trust is a charity which rescues and re-purposes historic buildings across Glasgow.

We have a legacy of over 40 years of working throughout the city, returning buildings at risk back to their communities from The Briggait, to Castlemilk Stables, Glasgow’s blue police boxes and amazing places like Kelvingrove Bandstand.

We introduced Doors Open Days to the UK and still run the much-loved Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival every September, providing free access to historic buildings and exclusive talks, walks, tours and other experiences.

We believe deeply that heritage and history are for everyone and work hard to help Glaswegians remember and celebrate their city’s stories.
