We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Engagement Pathways Team.

We are recruiting for the post of Development Worker – Engagement Pathways to lead and develop our pathways into services for people. This includes enquiries, initial conversations including risk assessment, baseline outcome measures, reviews and endings.

This is an opportunity requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, where the successful candidate will be required to support the journey of people through our services within the Edinburgh, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders and have an impact on staff development and supervision.

You will be key to maintaining quality within this area of service delivery and in representing our services within Health in Mind. You should have experience of working together with people experiencing mental health problems to support them to achieve their aims related to mental health and wellbeing. You should have experience of developing systems and processes and sharing your learning experiences across teams.

What you’ll do

You will be joining an ambitious team of fundraisers and communicators, passionate about our cause, and about to embark on a journey to grow our fundraised income and engagement.

As National Fundraising Growth Manager, you will provide dedicated growth capability across Alzheimer Scotland’s national fundraising portfolio. Working across established products such as Tea & Blether, Memory Walk, Shooting Stars and other participation fundraising initiatives, you will identify where growth can be achieved and help shape the plans, partnerships and routes to market that make it possible.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues in Fundraising, Communications, Corporate Fundraising, Community Fundraising and Localities, using data, insight and market awareness to reach new audiences, increase participation, build strategic partnerships and support sustainable unrestricted income growth.

What you’ll have

You will bring experience of growing participation, supporter acquisition or customer acquisition, and of delivering measurable commercial or income growth. You will be commercially minded, curious and confident building relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, with strong analytical skills and the ability to use insight and data to identify growth opportunities.

You will also have excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills, experience managing projects and budgets, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams without direct line management responsibility. You will understand how audience growth, acquisition and insight can shape effective promotional activity, while working with communications colleagues rather than owning every delivery channel.

Hospital to Home is our early intervention support service, designed to ensure that no family faces pregnancy, baby or infant loss alone. The service is offered on an opt-out basis, helping bridge the gap between hospital and community services at one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Families are offered 6 - 8 sessions of tailored support during the early weeks and months following their baby's death. This provides a safe, compassionate space to talk, make sense of what has happened and begin to navigate life after loss. As well as emotional support, the service offers practical guidance, including funeral planning, follow up hospital appointments and returning to work.

Working in partnership with NHS colleagues, we provide a seamless transition from hospital to home, ensuring families do not have to find support on their own. Early intervention enables us to recognise signs of complex grief, trauma or additional support needs at an early stage and respond appropriately, helping families access the right support at the right time.

Above all, Hospital to Home helps reduce the isolation and loneliness that so many bereaved parents experience. By surrounding families with compassionate, specialist support from the earliest days of their grief, we help them feel less alone, strengthen their emotional wellbeing and lay the foundations for healthier long-term bereavement outcomes.

What you’ll do

As an Alzheimer Scotland Young Onset Post Diagnostic Support Link Worker (YOPDSLW) you will be part of a National Team to deliver a high quality, person-centred outcome focussed service to people newly diagnosed with young-onset dementia and their families.

As a YOPDSLW, you will use Alzheimer Scotland’s 5 pillar model as a guide to deliver high quality PDS to people with young-onset dementia. The model includes understanding the illness and coming to terms with the diagnosis, peer support, connecting and maintaining links with their community along with planning for future care and decision making to develop an outcome focused plan to support their future hopes, desires and aspirations.

This support will be delivered in a person-centred flexible way at a pace that suits those receiving the service and ensures their voice is heard, along with equipping people living with dementia, and those who care for them, with the information, strategies, connections, resources and plans they need to live as well as possible, preparing for a period of supported self-management.

Supporting our Glasgow locality, the post will be based within Alzheimer Scotland Bridgeton Brain Health and Dementia Resource Centre. You will be an effective team worker and have the skills to build and maintain relationships with colleagues both within Alzheimer Scotland, the NHS and other stakeholders.

Creativity and innovation are encouraged to ensure that we strive to continually improve the way we support people living with dementia and their families.

Skills in using digital platforms are essential as we use a blended approach to support people that involve some virtual meetings and on-line groups.

What you’ll have

The successful candidate will have a flexible approach and able to deal with a number of enquiries and partnerships driven from the community and external partners. You’ll be a fantastic communicator who listens effectively to our service users and provides clear, concise and detailed advice to a varied audience. A positive leadership approach is key to ensuring the running of this service.

Applicants must have a full and valid driving license and vehicle to be able to travel for this role.

Applicants must hold a recognised relevant professional qualification, have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects people and their families along with excellent communication skills, a warm flexible approach, combined with skills in empathy and relationship building.

In addition, you should have skills and knowledge at the Enhanced Level of the Promoting Excellence Framework or be able to evidence you are working towards its completion.
