About Healing for the Heart

Healing for the Heart is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to supporting individuals and communities in improving their mental health and well-being. We provide a range of services including counselling, workshops, and community projects to build resilience, promote recovery, and enhance quality of life.

Job Overview

We are seeking two creative, enthusiastic Project Workers to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidates will work closely with our existing, experienced team and local communities to identify needs, develop and implement projects, and build strong, supportive networks.

Key Responsibilities

Working with our current community development team, the successful candidates will be involved with some or all of the following:

Community Engagement:

- Building and maintaining relationships with community members, local organisations, and stakeholders as well as facilitating groups, training and community meetings.

Project Development and Implementation:

- Deliver, monitor and evaluate projects and initiatives which address identified needs and promote mental health and well-being.

- Capacity Building:

- Provide training and support to community members and volunteers to enhance their skills and confidence in community development activities.

- Recruit, support and develop teams of volunteers to make a meaningful contribution to the work of the organisation and within their local communities.

- Advocacy and Awareness Raising:

- Raise awareness about mental health issues and the services offered by Healing for the Heart in local or regional forums.

- Administration and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records and collect data as required by Healing for the Heart.

- Prepare regular reports for the management team and funders.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

- Experience in working with people and groups.

- Strong understanding of mental health issues and community dynamics.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good organisational skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in using MS Office and other relevant software.

Desirable:

- A relevant qualification in community development, social work, or a related discipline.

- Experience working within the charity sector.

- Knowledge of the Glasgow community and local resources.

Our belief at Healing for the Heart is that, although skills are important, the person is much more important than the job itself and so we are looking for someone to who is empathetic and compassionate with a genuine desire to help and support others. We envisage that, although there will be some crossover, one of the posts will focus on delivering community groups and the other on working with volunteers.

Because this is a role which is very time bound, the successful candidates also need to be able to be organised and able to work within clear boundaries. Things change quickly in terms of communities and individuals and so you will need to be adaptable and great at thinking on the spot. As with all of our staff, you also need to be committed to the mission, values and ethos of the organisation.
