Role
The postholder will work with colleagues across the organisation to deliver the objectives outlined in EVOC’s five-year strategic plan. The Senior Development Worker (Children & Young People) will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our work to improve outcomes for children, young people and families across Edinburgh.
As a key member of the team, you will lead our Children and Young People workstream, bringing strategic direction, energy and a strong partnership approach to tackling child poverty and driving meaningful change. You will work closely with third sector organisations, public sector partners and communities to ensure their voices influence policy, planning and service delivery.
This is a highly collaborative and outward-facing role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery across advocacy, capacity building and partnership development.
About you
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional with a strong track record in working with children, young people and families.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience of delivering services or programmes that improve outcomes for children and young people
- A strong understanding of relevant policy and practice, including safeguarding and Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC)
- The ability to work strategically while delivering practical impact
- Confidence in building and sustaining partnerships across sectors
- Experience of supporting or supervising colleagues and contributing to high-performing teams
You’ll be a natural collaborator, able to bring people together, listen and influence, and create space for innovation and shared learning. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about making a difference and committed to the values of the third sector.

Edinburgh Partnerships and Recruitment Coordinator

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our team! You’ll be based in Edinburgh, focusing on recruiting local volunteers to become mentors. You’ll do this by engaging with the local community and building great working relationships with local businesses, public services and other organisations.
You’ll work closely with our Partnerships Manager and local teams to engage with local organisations and people to promote the MCR Pathways programme. Your main goal is to find committed volunteers who will mentor a young person at a local school. This means meeting with them for just one hour a week during term time for at least one year.
Key Responsibilities
- Find and recruit new volunteer mentors by connecting with people and groups in local communities
- Attend events (in person and online) to present to and engage with potential volunteers,
- Clearly explain the charity’s work and the great difference it makes for both young people and mentors. You’ll build positive relationships with potential mentors through meetings and presentations.
- Work with the wider MCR Team, schools and partners to make sure our mentor recruitment efforts are right for each local area.
- Help promote MCR Pathways recruitment campaigns across your local area.
- Keep accurate records of all your activities in our system to track our progress.

- You are confident in giving engaging presentations about our work to different groups and individuals.

We are now looking for two dynamic campaign organisers to be a key part of our team, supporting our campaign activities, members, volunteers, and elected representatives in the run up to the city council elections in May 2027 and beyond.

Job Description
We are recruiting two organisers, and there will be flexibility in the exact split of responsibilities between the two successful candidates.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Taking overall responsibility for delivering the agreed citywide campaign plan.
- Building campaigning and organisational capacity – including recruiting members, donors, deliverers and poster sites.
- Building and managing a team of volunteers who oversee all aspects of capacity building and campaigning.
- Designing and delivering an ongoing programme of doorstep communication with voters.
- Assisting with the design, production, print, and coordination of the delivery of campaign literature.
- Maintaining relevant databases e.g. deliverers, donors, poster sites etc.
- Organising events e.g. action days, social events, etc.
- Maintaining and updating social media, website and other digital infrastructure.
- Supporting fundraising and assisting with fundraising campaigns and events as required.
- Attending relevant conferences, training and other meetings as required.
Personal Specification
The following criteria are considered essential:
- Exceptional personal organisation.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, mobilise and manage volunteers.
- Excellent written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, self-motivating and able to manage own workload.
- Familiarity with current issues within UK politics and sympathy with the values and principles of the Liberal Democrats.
The following criteria are desirable:
- Experience in delivering effective Liberal Democrat campaigns.
- Experience of Liberal Democrat software and databases (e.g. Affinity Publisher, NationBuilder & Connect)
- Understanding of GDPR, data protection and regulations relevant to political campaigning
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
