Home-Start Glasgow North and North Lanarkshire is a charity making a big impact on families with young children (under 5) in the local area. We are now excited to welcome a new, confident, passionate, and enthusiastic Family Support Coordinator to our North Lanarkshire team who will be based in communities across North Lanarkshire.

Day-to-day, the Family Support Coordinator will manage a caseload of families receiving a blend of support from staff and volunteers. You will work alongside parents (and their young children) who may be feeling overwhelmed or navigating a range of life circumstances, such as loneliness and isolation, mental health challenges, illness or disability, financial pressures, or the impact of trauma. By building trusting relationships and offering compassionate, tailored support, you will provide encouragement and practical guidance, helping families to build confidence, resilience, and stronger connections within their communities.

The role is initially funded for 1 year with the possibility of extended funding

Do you have what we are looking for?

• Experience of working alongside families and children (up to age 5), offering support during challenging times.
• Able to respond flexibly to a family’s needs with the ability to support a caseload of families and home visiting volunteers.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding principles, legislation and best practice in protecting both children and vulnerable adults.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and diverse groups.
• Confident in using IT systems (Microsoft Office, CRM platforms) for monitoring and administration.
• A car driver with access to a car for which expenses will be paid

About Bridges Partnership - Glasgow

The Bridges Partnership is jointly provided by Aberlour Glasgow Family Support Service and Shelter Scotland to provide support to mothers and their children living in Glasgow City who are or have been affected by domestic abuse.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a Child and Family Worker to join our team, working 23.5 hours per week. As this post includes an unsocial hours allowance, you are required to be flexible with your approach and available to work weekends, evenings and public holidays to meet the needs of the families you would support.

As a Child and Family Worker within our Bridges Partnership project you will;

• Undertake risk assessment and work to develop safety plans
• Advocate in statutory meetings, court settings and with other agencies on behalf of women and children who have or are experiencing domestic abuse.
• Using the safe and together model, you will develop reports to be used in courts in relation to civil and criminal proceedings.
• Work in partnership with the parents, either on a 1:1 basis or in groups to enhance their parenting skills and build their confidence
• Work with children and parents in a therapeutic and trauma-based approach to help them reach their full potential.
• Provide housing information and assistance
• Inform women and children of their rights
• Signposting and helping each mother to access additional services as needed.

You will have relevant experience and a sound knowledge of domestic abuse and the impact on the children and adult survivor and relevant theory in attachment and parenting. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to women and children’s rights. You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above. It is desired that you are IDDA trained or are willing to work towards this.

About Aberlour

We are a values driven organisation delivering services across Scotland supporting children, young people and families. Our central support functions, including our Information Governance and Data Protection Team, are critical in ensuring our services can provide the best care possible.

What we are looking for

Using your administrative experience, you will support the team with the management of meetings, documents, and diaries. You will complete data entry and retrieval to enable the development of required reports. In addition to managing digital information, requests, you will support the collation of information for subject access requests from those previously supported by Aberlour.

You will have good communication skills, be confident with IT having used Microsoft Office systems, digital information, enquiry processing and be able to prioritise tasks.

This is a part time post working 18.75 hours per week. Hours can be worked flexibly, and home working arrangements are available although there will be a requirement to attend our office in Stirling on an ad hoc basis.
