This is an exciting role at a pivotal moment for Scottish Fair Trade, with a strong focus on youth engagement, global justice and systems change. If you’re motivated by fairness, global justice and building a better economy, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a creative, outward-facing role focused on growing Scotland’s Fair Trade movement.

You’ll lead our communications and digital presence, create engaging content, support national campaigns like Swap the System, and work with communities across Scotland to bring Fair Trade to life in new and engaging ways.

You’ll also play a key role in connecting different audiences – supporting long-standing Fair Trade groups while developing fresh, future-facing approaches to reach new people.

Crossroads was founded in 1968, with the declaration that everyone should have the right to ‘live gloriously’. This meant two things: tackling whatever in society gets in the way of a fulfilling life, and nurturing and strengthening people’s confidence and resilience. Based at the Barn in Gorbals, we work with young people, families, and individuals, and work on issues of disability, mental health, migration, housing conditions and much more. Wherever possible we work to bring people together to share experiences, decide together and act together.

Our Board of Trustees is rooted in the community, and elected by members of the Association. These local roots have been essential to the survival of the organisation for over 50 years, against a background that has not always been friendly towards local action or challenges to authority. The survival has also depended on the essential advice and support of legal, financial and organisational talents both within the organisation and from supporters, so that we can demonstrate our integrity and responsibility.

We are looking to increase the strength and breadth of memebrship of our Board of Trustees / Directors and are keen to bring new members on Board. We would particularly welcome interest from younger people, minorities, and those with professional and life experiences we can draw on.

We are looking for 2 Youth Work Leads to deliver youth sessions, clubs and activities for our young people and families within YoMo services across Glasgow the delivery will be varied and will always be driven by the needs of young people and the community.

There will also be the remit of devising and implementing new projects and clubs as guided by funding requirements and service user’s needs. These will include building and creating programs that provide accreditation through youth and SQA awards that build skills for young people’s future employment.

You will work in partnership with local organisations, social work and schools and build up strong positive community links. You will work to enhance the lives of young people by ensuring activities are provided to develop their mental, emotional, physical and social well-being needs.

You will have the responsibility of helping with fundraising drives and initiatives.

You will also be committed to ongoing personal development and undertake training or other professional development activities as required.

All other reasonable duties will be required to be undertaken as and when required and agreed with the Project Manager.

Full time post 35 hours per week, with hours worked varying over days, nights and weekend duties as required.

Part time post 25 hours per week, with hours worked varying over days, nights and weekend duties as required.

About Us

Faith in Community Dundee (FiCD) is a values-led organisation working to tackle poverty and inequality through partnership, listening, and belief in the power of communities. We work alongside faith groups, local networks, and people with lived experience to create real, lasting change.

The Role

To support and encourage local faith communities in developing community initiatives which offer a practical response to both the causes and the effects of poverty and hardship in Dundee and surrounds; enable faith leaders and faith communities to engage with statutory partners to ensure inclusive services; build links between faith leaders, faith communities and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

• Enable local faith communities to develop specific ideas and activities which address locally identified needs and use approaches that best meets the needs of local people. This support will be through:
• facilitation and mentoring,
• identifying or delivering relevant training,
• connecting faith communities with key partners,
• providing guidance and support to faith communities on governance issues, organisational development, funding.
• Co-facilitate the Dundee Faith Forum, a quarterly meeting of Faith Leaders, and deliver on any associated actions, including facilitating short-term working groups.
• Develop opportunities to bring diverse faith communities together, building connections and relationships through shared actions/activities.
• Develop opportunities for diverse faith communities to engage in the wider fairness agenda within the city, with a particular focus on poverty and inequality.
• Support faith communities delivering community food provision, including connecting them with the Dundee Community Food Network.

Additional Information:

The Faith Forum is a newly formed (January 2024) forum of Faith Leaders from across the city. Through the Faith Covenant with Dundee City Council, the Faith Forum gives opportunities for Faith Leaders to engage with statutory services, representing their communities, and ensuring equality, inclusion and human rights is embedded in public services. The Forum meets quarterly, Dundee City Councils Equalities Officer attends each meeting, and the Forum members invite representatives from statutory bodies to attend and discuss key issues. Short-term working groups and actions develop from these quarterly meetings

• Passion about social justice and tackling poverty, with a commitment to the aims and key values of Faith in Community Dundee.
• Demonstrable experience of community development, working with people from diverse backgrounds, and comfortable with leaders of faith communities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with faith communities and key stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
