Role
This new role would suit someone who is naturally very well-organised, able to build strong relationships and garner support, enjoys working with lots of partners, has experience of Scottish politics, and is committed to climate action and justice. Amidst the self-evident climate emergency it is vital that we re-establish the priority of climate action amongst the public, with politicians and decision makers, and win wide support for urgent change and leadership.
You’ll lead on our engagement with stakeholders, MSPs, government officials and party staff and work to build support through sympathetic groups such as unions and the faith community, in order to help to mobilise our supporters and grow the strong public support for action. You’ll be part of the small SCCS secretariat team that provides support to our diverse members and works with them to plan and deliver advocacy and campaigns activities, so you’ll need to be a great communicator, enthusiastic, proactive and willing to be flexible.
With Scottish elections taking place in 2026, this is an important time to be influencing climate policy. This role will play an essential part in helping the Scottish climate movement navigate the new political context, boost our impact and win deeper support for urgency and action.
About SCCS
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS) is Scotland’s climate coalition, bringing together over 70 civil society organisations campaigning together on climate change. Our membership is diverse and includes national and community organisations working on:
- Climate action justice
- Environment and nature
- Gender and social justice
- Faith and belief
- International development
- Worker and human rights
- Health and inequality
Together, we represent hundreds of thousands of people across Scotland and stand in solidarity with communities most affected by climate impacts around the world. We collaborate with our members to build strong public support for faster climate action. We use this support to influence decision-makers to put in place fair, effective policies to reduce emissions and benefits for everyone.
Key Tasks
- Designing an advocacy strategy with our members and leading on the delivery of this, with activities likely to include producing briefings, meeting with MSPs and officials, giving evidence to committees attending party conferences and responding to consultations, amongst other ways identified in work plans to influence politicians.
- Building and deepening relationships with MSPs, officials and party staff, building support for SCCS’s policy priorities.
- Attending and organising stakeholder gatherings to recruit more diverse members and build support from unions, the faith community and sympathetic organisations to deliver a more unified, consistent and powerful political voice for urgent climate action which, in turn, will help influence the politicians that rely on these key stakeholders for votes and funding.
- Ensuring political influencing is connected with media work, mobilising supporters and wider stakeholders, and running public campaigns to build and maintain the public support for action.
- Day to day monitoring and analysis of the Scottish Parliament, identifying opportunities and sharing information with members.
- Working with UK organisations on relevant Westminster/reserved matters that affect Scotland, and with TCC, our sister UK coalition, to develop their Local Intelligence Hub so that it becomes a platform Scottish campaigners can use to track advocacy and impact.
- Supporting members – especially smaller organisations – with their advocacy, offering advice and support when needed.
Personal Specification
Knowledge, experience and skills
Essential:
- A proven track record in a similar or related role, which included influencing parliamentary processes, policy and campaigning, or won support with diverse stakeholders;
- Ability to work collaboratively across the political spectrum and with multiple partners to build and maintain strong relationships;
- A strong understanding of Scotland’s political landscape;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for different audiences and purposes;
- Excellent IT skills;
- Able to work flexibly and identify and act on opportunities for continually improving ways – of working;
- The ability to work effectively in a small team;
- Able to prioritise and organise a busy workload;
- Demonstrable commitment to action on climate change and climate justice.
Desirable:
- Experience facilitating meetings and organising events;
- Experience of working with the media.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for the role: the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful candidate will be more important than formal academic qualifications.
Terms and Conditions
- Salary: £35,000.
- Hours: 5 days a week (35 hours). The post holder may need to work the occasional evening or weekend, for which time off in lieu will be granted. Overtime will not be paid.
- Location: Primarily from home, with occasional office working in central Edinburgh.
- Other travel may be required to meetings, most often in the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Government offices and other locations in the central belt, but occasionally in other parts of Scotland or the UK (for which travel expenses will be paid).
- Line manager: Stop Climate Chaos Scotland Coalition Manager.
- Holiday: 28 days annual leave plus 11 days statutory holidays.
- Pension: Stop Climate Chaos Scotland operates a pension plan with NEST and our pension benefits exceed the statutory minimum.

Climate Hubs Scotland Network Facilitator

This is a Scotland-wide position and is facilitated by ECCAN only for the purposes of this job advert. The successful applicant will be hosted by their local Climate Hub.
Role will be hosted and supported by one of the climate action hubs, who will offer line management, IT, and other support. Arrangements will be shaped around the postholder. The postholder will work with all hubs and the Scottish Government.
Description of the Climate Hubs Scotland
The national network of 24 Climate Hubs across Scotland aims to provide communities with the capacity and confidence to shape and deliver locally relevant climate action that supports Scotland’s transition to a net-zero, climate-resilient future. Hubs operate as locally rooted, flexible, place-based structures that adapt their models and activities to local priorities and contexts. While the scale and structure of delivery may vary, all hubs share the overarching objectives of building local capability and motivation for climate action and supporting communities to develop and implement climate projects.
The climate hubs are run by local third sector organisations. They vary in size and scale, and employ different models of working, including partnership models.
Purpose and outcomes of the role:
To work with the climate action hubs and Scottish Government to develop and take forward collaborative actions across the national Hub network and to achieve the following strategic outcomes:
- The Climate Hub network is better able to share information, work together and support each other.
- The network is better connected, with each other, with key partners, and others to ensure that the knowledge of climate action hubs and the communities they serve is used effectively.
Oversight:
The Scottish Government and the lead hub will work with the successful candidate to develop a work plan. Priorities and the work plan will be shaped by the wider climate hub network.
The post holder will be required to provide updates to the Scottish Government and the network on a regular basis. The post holder will work closely with all hubs and in particular with staff supporting national priorities.
Senior Project Manager, Community Artworks, National Cycle Network

As Senior Project Manager, you will lead our Artworks and Placemaking programmes. These programmes work with local communities to care for, protect, and improve places along the National Cycle Network (NCN) through artwork and placemaking.
You will lead the expansion of the Artworks and Placemaking programme from Scotland into England. This includes setting up new projects, supporting delivery partners, and making sure funder requirements are met.
You will also manage the ArtRoots community grants programme. In addition, you will oversee an England wide audit of artworks on the National Cycle Network, working closely with our volunteer network.
You will work with teams across the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust to track progress and understand the impact of this work. A key part of the role is sharing outcomes, learning, and achievements in a clear and accessible way with funders, partners, and other stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage the established Artworks and Placemaking programme in Scotland and lead the rollout of the new programme in England. This includes full responsibility for budgets, resources, risks, and KPI reporting.
- Oversee complex, grant funded projects and act as Project Sponsor. Ensure projects meet funder requirements and are delivered to a high standard.
- Support community led delivery along the National Cycle Network (NCN). Work closely with Local Authorities, volunteers, community groups, external partners, and internal teams.
- Manage and support project teams. Help teams prioritise work so time and resources are focused where they have the greatest impact.
- Set the strategic direction for the programme and develop a clear pipeline of projects. Lead funding bids, define KPIs, and make sure impact is clearly measured and evidenced.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering community arts projects that make a real difference. The work involves supporting communities to shape their local spaces and creating clear evidence of impact for funders.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
- A degree, or equivalent experience, in arts, placemaking, community education, or a related field. You will also have several years of experience delivering community led arts or built environment projects, especially in areas affected by inequality or deprivation.
- A strong understanding of how to plan and deliver public art projects. This includes knowledge of land ownership and permissions, planning processes, public art delivery, ongoing maintenance, and relevant health and safety or construction regulations.
- Proven experience managing complex programmes and multiple projects at the same time. This includes managing budgets, identifying and managing risk, and working within structured project management approaches.
- Experience developing successful funding applications and building positive, collaborative partnerships. You will be confident working with communities, stakeholders, volunteers, and members of the public.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. You will have experience supporting and supervising teams, strong organisational skills, a creative approach, and the ability to solve problems in complex situations.
- The ability to work in ways that promote the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and adults at risk, in line with safeguarding best practice.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.
Our Communications Team helps Greener Kirkcaldy engage with our local community. The team manages and promotes a busy programme of events. They promote activities and run campaigns. They manage our website, social media channels and engage with the media. They also produce posters, flyers, leaflets and publications like our annual report.
The Communications Team consists of our Communications Lead, Communications & Events Coordinator and a Communications Assistant. The team are supported by several media volunteers as well as contractors including a graphic designer and videographer.

You will ensure that communications are effective, well planned and delivered on budget. You will be able to develop best practice across the organisation.
