The Hub will form part of a strategic Scotland-wide network of such regional hubs across Scotland to offer networking, support and encouragement of community led climate action.

The role will contribute towards the Hub’s aims of supporting and empowering community led climate action in communities throughout West Lothian. The role is senior and strategic and as such the postholder will be expected to operate at a management level taking responsibility for implementing WLCAN Hub strategy, coordinating staff, Work Plan delivery, financial monitoring and control, and supporting the WLCAN Hub membership and their activities. The role of the Communication Worker is to contribute to the delivery of the WLCAN Hub, its aims, objectives and outcomes by planning and delivering its communication and PR strategy.
This includes developing a communication plan, creating and managing website and social media channels, writing and disseminating publicity material and engaging with the public and the media. The role also involves organising engagement and promotional events and encouraging collaboration and engagement with stakeholders and partner organisations.

The aim of the Development Worker is to contribute to the delivery of the WLCAN Hub, build connection and understanding across community groups and create structures to enable the adoption of more strategic and collaborative approaches to the climate emergency across and between community groups, public and third sector partners. Shettleston Tollcross Energy Project (STEP) is a collaborative project between Shettleston and Tollcross Housing Associations. We have received funding through the Energy Redress Scheme to employ an Energy Adviser to provide a quality energy advice service targeted at those most at risk of fuel poverty across the two areas and in particular, tenants of both housing associations.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a project aiming to make a real difference. Key responsibilities include to:
• Advise people about their household energy consumption, heating controls and energy bills.
• Provide advice on fuel tariffs, payment options and energy efficiency measures and advocacy on fuel debt and income maximisation.
• Carry out home visits and advice surgeries, deliver workshops, focus groups and events and produce project specific promotional material.
• Laise closely with other housing association staff and partners to receive referrals and prioritise service delivery and to target small scale energy efficiency improvement work.
• Collect data and maintain records to help with the ongoing evaluation of the project.
Based in the SHA office, the energy advisor will operate from the Shettleston Hub and Tollcross Advice and Learning Centre and will link to other advice service providers and projects operating from these Hubs, which deliver access to affordable food and digital inclusion, money, employment, and wellbeing advice to the local communities.
We are seeking a positive, self-motivated individual who is a team player, able to build partnerships in the community and with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You must have a recognised energy related qualification and a track record of delivering energy advice and advocacy support. You will have a good understanding of fuel poverty and related issues facing the Shettleston/Tollcross communities. You will be experienced in delivering customer services in a sensitive manner and and of working in an advice and information context within the public/third or charity sector.
The Community Development Officer (CDO) will develop mechanisms to engage communities of place and interest with SCOTLAND: The Big Picture’s rewilding projects, with particular emphasis on engaging communities with rewilding taking place within our Northwoods Rewilding Network.
Specifically, the CDO will work with communities and support them to:
• Co-create community benefit packages funded by private investment.
• Learn more about local nature restoration projects, improving understanding of rewilding.
Ultimately, this role will support more people to become informed about and involved with rewilding via recreational and educational activities across Scotland.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sustrans team and work as part of the I Bike Project in Scotland. The I Bike Project has been running in Scotland since 2009, working closely with schools to promote sustainable travel.
This is a newly created post where you will be responsible for delivering the I Bike Project in West Calder High School and St Margarets academy and their associated Primary Schools, to promote sustainable (active) travel to and from school and for recreational journeys. You will be supporting a number of local teams, including school staff and the Active Schools Team.
You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as the Senior Leadership teams within the schools, Local community group leaders and Local Authority members. In addition, you will support the School Champions, the staff and volunteers promoting sustainable (active) travel within the school communities, using Local Authority resources to promote the I Bike project.
This role will require travel, including overnight stays and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.
About you
You should have experience of working with children and young people as well as working with schools and community youth groups, with the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people.
You will have good written and verbal communication skills, and you will be knowledgeable planning for presentation, lessons, and activities.
We would like you to have undertaken or be willing to attend the National Standard Cycle Instructor Training, and Bike maintenance training, and have an understanding of active travels programmes in Scotland.
