Youth Scotland is looking for a Fundraiser to join our team and help strengthen our fundraising activity, supporting community-based youth work across Scotland.

Working as part of Youth Scotland’s Impact and Business Development team, the postholder will support the development of funding applications, coordinate grant reporting, research new funding opportunities and contribute to partnership funding bids. The role will focus particularly on funding from charitable trusts and foundations,

Scottish Government programmes and other public bodies, while also supporting wider partnership and business development opportunities.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, curious and motivated by social impact, and who enjoys bringing together information, evidence and ideas to help secure funding that supports young people and youth organisations.

Youth Scotland is the national charity for community-based youth work, supporting a national network of 600+ youth organisations and over 2,400 youth groups. Together they provide opportunities for more than 110,000 young people, supported by 12,000 youth workers and volunteers in communities across Scotland.

Alongside fundraising activity, the role will also contribute to initiatives that support the wider youth work sector, including helping organise Meet the Funder events and supporting Youth Scotland’s involvement in the National Impact Network.

Role Details

Hours:Flexible – between 0.6 FTE (21 hours) and full-time (35 hours). We are open to discussing working patterns with the successful candidate.

Salary:£32,204–£37,327 per annum (full-time equivalent), pro rata for part-time hours

Youth Scotland prides itself on being a flexible employer. Office space is available at our HQ in Edinburgh but, depending on personal circumstances, home-based or hybrid working is available for this role. You will be required in Edinburgh for occasional in person planning or strategy days.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed worker to support the delivery of our North Edinburgh Futures programme — a new early-intervention project offering safe, engaging, co-designed youth work for 10–15 year olds during evenings and weekends.

You will:

• Support the planning & delivery of high-quality youth work sessions, workshops & trips
• Embed leadership & skills-building opportunities throughout activities
• Provide additional support for young people facing additional barriers to engagement
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
• Support young people to work towards accredited awards (e.g. Saltire, Dynamic Youth, Youth Achievement)
• Reduce barriers to participation and promote inclusion
• Work closely with the Futures Development Worker and sessional youth work staff
• Maintain accurate participation, wellbeing & achievement records
• Work flexibly, including Thursday evenings, Saturday evenings, and one Sunday per month. You will work Wednesday day-time hours if not working a Sunday.

You need:

• At least 3 years’ experience working with young people in youth work or related setting
• Experience supporting young people who face challenges or reduced engagement
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
• Commitment to trauma-informed and inclusive practice
• Motivation to support young people into leadership, volunteering & awards
• Desirable: experience with accredited awards, supporting volunteers/peer leaders
• Desirable: relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Education or Social Care
• Desirable: driving licence or willingness to undertake minibus training

As a Community Young Person and Family Support Worker (Crisis Response), you will be required to travel Scotland-wide, with potential overnight stays away from home, with expenses paid.

To continue our existing well-established service and support a Pilot project (Alternative to Policy Custody), we are looking for a keen, enthusiastic individual who has an interest in helping children, young people and their families. This new pilot will be supporting young people away from police involvement and working along side our bespoke young person and family support service.

Purpose & Context of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload, ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

You will be expected to actively demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people, by managing their outcomes through the use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies and procedures.

Service Delivery

• To build relationships and deliver outcome-based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
• To be available for young people and families at critical times
• To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning
• To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
• To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
• To actively participate in the delivery of the Includem Helpline evening and night service so support is available for young people and families 24/7
• To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making

People

• To understand the different coping mechanisms that young people and their families use to deal with stress and high emotions, and to respond appropriately
• To demonstrate professional resilience when providing support with sensitive or challenging issues
• To use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals facing adversity to find solutions and make positive changes, ensuring resources are in place to sustain these changes
• To establish mutually trusting, open and non-judgemental relationship with young people and their families
• To encourage and lead collaborative team work to provide a ‘scaffolding of support’ around each young person and their family whilst developing relationships with wider community resources.
• Offer support to young people within their own communities and support them to access resources locally
• To respect and value the contribution of wider stakeholders and the delivery of Includem services
• Where opportunity allows experience of directing, supporting Sessional staff

Resources

• To deploy time effectively to meet the needs of young people and families to ensure the service is available 24/7, 365 days per year.
• Able and willing to travel anywhere in Scotland to respond to needs from Local Authorities, including overnight stays away from home.
• To maintain and produce accurate and timely records and reports.
• To ensure support is delivered in line with Includem’s Policies, Procedures, SSSC Codes of Practice & National Guidelines.

Quality Assurance

• To be accountable for the quality of your work and responsible for any work delegated to others within the Includem support, and be able to evidence this work effectively.
• To actively participate in formal supervision and continuous professional development.
• To have an overview of the work delegated to other Includem workers involved in delivering individualised support to your young people.
• To generate creative and new solutions to issues faced by young people and families.

A UK driving license is an essential requirement for the role.

Service Manager

In this key role, you will lead the operational management of Stable Life’s charitable services and commercial activities, helping us deliver meaningful outcomes and positively transform the lives of young people.

It is essential that candidates: have proven experience of leading and managing a team, strong background working with disadvantaged young people and their families, practical experience of working with horses, excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to manage projects effectively and work proactively on your own initiative.

Essential qualifications include HND and/or SVQ Level 4 or above in Social Care or other related discipline such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Education or other relevant Health Care Practice.
