Job Description

We are seeking two full time Recovery Workers to join the Argyll and Bute Recovery Service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to individuals and families in Dunoon and wider Cowal. As a Recovery Worker, you’ll be a vital part of a compassionate, frontline team dedicated to reducing harm and promoting positive change for individuals impacted by drug and alcohol use. Our support is for those aged 18 plus and we work alongside NHS and third sector partners.

Our wider team covers all of Argyll and Bute through an outreach delivery model. We provide a comprehensive range of support, including harm reduction, psychosocial interventions, rapid response and rehabilitation pathways. Our service is highly regarded by those we support, with client feedback consistently highlighting the quality of care and the values-driven dedication of our staff.

Based in Dunoon and reaching out across the Cowal, Recovery Workers are at the heart of our community-based support. You will manage a caseload of individuals and family members, delivering harm reduction, evidence-based interventions and essential practical support. While you’ll work with independence, you’re never alone - you will be backed by a solid team, with guidance from management and training and development.

Requirements - as you will be providing outreach, being a driver with access to a car is an advantage (though not strictly essential). You must be digitally confident, capable of using IT systems to manage your workload efficiently and accurately

The role of Recovery Worker involves working with the Team Lead and colleagues to focus on building and strengthening visible recovery within and across communities. You may have lived experience of recovery or have skills and experience in a similar role. This role requires energy, enthusiasm and adaptability across the 7-day working week. Some evening and weekend work is critical to our operational delivery. The role demands a solution focused and strengths-based approach when working with all Recovery Scotland stakeholders.

About the job

The Recovery Development Worker is suited to an individual with "lived" and/or “learned” experience of recovery from problematic substance use or addictive behaviours, such as problem gambling, or someone who has been directly affected by another person’s substance use or addictive behaviours. This experience of recovery and resilience can instil hope and is a powerful example within recovery communities. Individuals with lived experience of substance use must be at least 24 months free from problematic substance use and not engaging with services. The post holder will be required to join the PVG scheme.

About the Role:

The role of Community Engagement Worker is to provide a community-based Alcohol Brief Intervention (ABI) service in the wider community and primary care settings within Greater Glasgow in partnership with other statutory, voluntary and community agencies within the area.

As part of the role, the Community Engagement Worker will host alcohol information stalls in communities across Greater Glasgow to talk to members of the public about alcohol consumption and provide evidence based screenings and interventions.

The postholder will also be support the wider Education & Development team on delivery of the Alcohol Brief Interventions Skills training.

Travel throughout Greater Glasgow will be essential for this role.

The Community Engagement Worker will report to the Service Manager – Education & Development.

This post requires membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for protected adults. Successful applicants will be required to join the PVG Scheme.

What you can expect in the role

This position reports to Director of Strategic Initiatives and has day to day liaison with the Assistant Director of Operations Scotland. You will be required to work as part of a multi-functional team to deliver our objectives.

The role will support operational staff to help them to identify, commission and manage cyclical maintenance, renovations, moves and property changes. It will also require contribution to the creation of property specifications for new and existing services.

Health and Safety responsibilities will include identifying areas of concern or potential non-compliance and working with health and safety representatives and consultants to ensure compliance with policy.

You will have responsibility for supporting on property related procurement and responsibility for property insurance.

The role will also have responsibility for Carbon Emission monitoring and reporting to enable us to work towards maintaining Carbon Neutral Status.

What we’re looking for in you

We are looking for an exceptional individual to provide support to our Scottish operational teams to enable them to design, maintain and create outstanding environments for our services to operate from. The successful candidate will:

• Be understanding and passionate about the needs of people who use our services
• Have knowledge of the practical elements of property management and project work
• Be able to evidence experience of developing relationships and working across multi-functional teams, ensuring that the environments in which we work are both fit for purpose and inspirational
• Hold or be working towards RICS qualification or related property professional qualification
• Have prior experience of working on the maintenance and management of CQC or CI registered care home properties, registered social housing or similar
• *Health & Safety qualifications are desirable which could include but are not limited to IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH Level 3 or equivalent (NCRQ, NVQ, etc.,).
