Crossroads was founded in 1968, with the declaration that everyone should have the right to ‘live gloriously’. This meant two things: tackling whatever in society gets in the way of a fulfilling life, and nurturing and strengthening people’s confidence and resilience. Based at the Barn in Gorbals, we work with young people, families, and individuals, and work on issues of disability, mental health, migration, housing conditions and much more. Wherever possible we work to bring people together to share experiences, decide together and act together.

Our Board of Trustees is rooted in the community, and elected by members of the Association. These local roots have been essential to the survival of the organisation for over 50 years, against a background that has not always been friendly towards local action or challenges to authority. The survival has also depended on the essential advice and support of legal, financial and organisational talents both within the organisation and from supporters, so that we can demonstrate our integrity and responsibility.

We are looking to increase the strength and breadth of memebrship of our Board of Trustees / Directors and are keen to bring new members on Board. We would particularly welcome interest from younger people, minorities, and those with professional and life experiences we can draw on.

About SCOREscotland

We work in partnership with local organisations to tackle the root causes of racism and social exclusion. We provide vital support to families, children, and young people affected by racism, with a strong focus on minority ethnic communities.

Based in Wester Hailes, our small but dedicated team delivers community-based activities, outreach programmes, and opportunities that empower people to fully participate in local community life across South West Edinburgh and beyond.

We’re looking for new Non-Executive Directors to join our Board, with a particular focus on:

• People from minority ethnic communities living in Wester Hailes or surrounding areas;
• Young Black people (18+);
• People with lived experience of racism and social exclusion;
• Individuals who can contribute skills, experience, or insight in one or more of the following areas: fundraising and finance, child protection, risk management, human resources, community learning & development, marketing, communications and policy development. You do not need prior Board experience — support, training and guidance will be provided;
• We are particularly seeking a Treasurer.

About the Role of Board Members

As a Non-Executive Director (Board Member), you will:

• Help shape SCOREscotland’s strategic direction;
• Provide oversight, support, and constructive challenge to the Management Team;
• Ensure the organisation is well-governed, financially sustainable, and true to its values.

Board Members meet regularly (currently every two months) and work collectively to ensure the charity operates effectively and in line with Scottish charity law.

Health All Round is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of people living in South West Edinburgh. Our Action for Pain programme supports individuals with chronic pain by helping them better understand their condition and explore practical, effective strategies to manage and improve their symptoms.

This role will include assisting with the delivery of our lifestyle management course, providing one-to-one support to participants and supporting and coordinating volunteers.

We’re seeking a creative and passionate person to join our Community Learning & Development team at Space to lead on our Changemakers project.

Changemakers is an exciting new food education project working with young people aged 16-24 who have barriers to employment and may have complex needs.

The Food & Life Skills Project Worker will support groups of up to 12 young people to build self-esteem and increase their independence via a programme of well-designed group-based sessions that use food education to teach life skills such as budgeting, cooking, nutrition, handling finances, numeracy, literacy and communication.

The Changemakers sessions will run on Wednesday afternoons 12.30-3pm from The Broomhouse Hub.

We currently have funding for the project to run from April – October 2026. During this period you would run two x 10 week programmes with time for recruitment and promotion before each programme.

Ideally all working hours will be competed on a Wednesday, however there is a degree of flexibility around working hours out with the times the sessions are to be delivered.

Key tasks in the job:

• Design and deliver a series of 10 group-based sessions that support people to develop confidence and life skills using food education as a driver
• Create detailed session plans for each session outlining activities, equipment, ingredients and timing
• Promote the Changemakers programme across networks and partner organisations such as local schools, colleges, community groups and other voluntary organisations to recruit cohorts of suitable candidates
• Conduct initial meetings with potential learners to assess their suitability for the project and their motivations and aims
• Carry out risk assessments and create a safe but nurturing environment for learners to thrive
• Complete all administration tasks relating to the project including collating learner registration information, updating database with detailed progress reports, recording attendance, collating data for funder reporting
• Provide 1:1 support to learners to review individual progress and address any barriers
• Engage with external partners/suppliers/trainers to provide relevant accredited training courses or specialist topics
• Recruit, train and support volunteers for the programme
• Manage the project budget
