Youth Climate Action Project Co-ordinator

We are currently looking to recruit a Youth Climate Action Project Coordinator. The purpose of the job is to work with South West Edinburgh based black and minority ethnic (BME) young people (11 - 17 years) to enhance their climate literacy and help them become more involved in climate action. The post is part-time (14 hours per week) and is contracted to 31 March 2026. You will be enthusiastic and motivated individual who will contribute to the development of our work with young people.

We are embedded in neighbourhoods, many of which fall into the lowest 10% on the SIMD. Our mission is to address the causes and effects of racism, break down barriers, and support local individuals and group’s active participation in civic life to improve their quality of life and opportunities. We act on the causes and effects of racism by promoting race equality, raising cultural awareness, and fostering stronger, more resilient communities. We do this by improving understandings and acceptance of religious, cultural and social diversity amongst all communities through workshops and community events.

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our team. We seek a talented and experienced person to work as a ‘Digital Inclusion and Communications Officer’. The aim of the role is to support local black and minority ethnic (BME) families to become/remain digitally connected with the wider world.

The post holder will also manage SCOREscotland’s presence on social media platforms including but not limited to our webpage, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

SCOREscotland partners with people and organisations to address the causes of racism, providing support to families and young people struggling with its effects. Our aim is to strengthen communities so that people can take an active and full part in community life in Scotland. Our small team is based in Wester Hailes reaching through and beyond this community with both centre based activities and online engagement.

Several of the SCOREscotland’s current Board members have supported the organisation for several years and in support of the organisation’s strength and continuity we are looking to recruit new members.

The Board of Directors is responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight and a constructive challenge to the SCOREscotland’s Management Team. We are currently looking for Non-Executive Directors who share our passion for supporting community strengthening and inclusion and ideally bring any of the following skills:

  • Community Learning and Development
  • Marketing and fund-raising

The beauty of being a sessional worker is you can vary your hours from weekly to monthly sessions. Our group ages are: 7-10 years old and 11-16 years old.

We are based at WHALE Arts Centre, Wester Hailes but we take our young people throughout the city and beyond.

Sessional staff hours are variable and the rate of pay is £11.50 per hour (unqualified) or £13 per hour (youth work qualification).
