As the Project Officer, you will support schools across East Lothian to increase active travel, such as walking, wheeling and cycling. Your work will help pupils, staff and local communities travel in healthier and more sustainable ways.
In this role, you will plan and deliver a range of activities, events and lessons. These activities are designed to encourage people to choose active travel when going to school or work. You will spend time working with teachers, parents, pupils and community members to make these activities successful.
You will also work closely with Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Volunteers. Part of your role is to give them clear guidance and support so that everyone understands their tasks and feels confident carrying them out. Alongside this, you will contribute ideas and feedback to help develop the plans and goals of the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
You will communicate clearly with schools and partners, making sure information is simple and easy to understand. You will organise your tasks in a structured way and can ask for team support whenever it is helpful. You will use accessible materials and inclusive approaches to help people understand the benefits of active travel. Your aim is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels able to take part.

Getting Better Together Ltd (GBT) is a community centred health initiative which was established in 2000 with the aim of promoting the health & wellbeing of residents living in North Lanarkshire including the Fortissat Ward, Shotts, Springhill, Dykehead, Stane, Torbothie, Harthill, Eastfield, Salsburgh, Allanton/Hartwood. At the heart of Shotts, GBT's Healthy Living Centre was established twenty-three years ago.

We now have vacancy for a full time (35 Hrs) Cycle Development Officer. The main aim of the role is to oversee and develop the cycling programme at GBT. The Trackside Bikes Training and Repair Centre programme delivers a range of cycling services including bike repairs, servicing, loans, retail, and education. Alongside this, the postholder will play a key role in delivering outdoor cycling to a range of multidisciplinary groups across North Lanarkshire, working with people of all ages from the most deprived communities.
A core element of the role is working directly with disadvantaged children and young people, including those with behavioural needs, Additional Support Needs (ASN), and those who may face barriers to engagement in traditional education or training settings. The postholder will be expected to provide a supportive, and inclusive approach that helps young people build confidence, skills, and positive relationships with learning.
Acting as an ambassador for cycling and active travel in North Lanarkshire, the postholder will work closely with the staff team, Getting Better Together, key local stakeholders, schools, and the wider community to promote the benefits of cycling, active travel, and skills development.

What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Support Coordinator (Armed Forces). 35hpw 1-Year Fixed-Term contract. Working hours to be agreed between the following days and hours: Monday - Friday between 8am - 8pm & Saturdays 10am - 4pm.
Salary band: £27,598 - £36,445. Salary on appointment will normally be at the lower salary point, with progression subject to review - in line with VSS progression arrangements. A higher salary placing will only be considered in exceptional circumstances subject to experience demonstrated.
Primary location: Kirkcaldy. You will be expected to work throughout Central Scotland & Fife locality.
You will be reporting directly to a Locality Manager, and you will be responsible for ensuring, within your Service(s), that VSS’s local service development and delivery plan is being implemented within your geographical area(s). Service delivery is provided by a team of skilled and knowledgeable volunteers and you will be responsible for planning their deployment to ensure that the service delivered meets the desired outcomes of victims and witnesses of crime and our service users. You will also be responsible for all aspects of volunteer engagement with VSS at your services, including recruitment, induction, learning and development, ongoing performance management and support. Contributing to business planning and co-ordination ensuring that continuous learning takes place to monitor that the outcomes of service users are being met is also part of the role.
You will bring experience from a similar role and a commitment to your own professional development. As a confident and supportive leader, you will know how to motivate others, build trust, and drive performance. You’re comfortable working with data gathering, analysing, and presenting insights that help shape decisions. You believe in fairness and inclusion with the confidence to challenge discrimination, bias, or stereotyping when you see it. Alongside this, you have a solid understanding of the voluntary and charity sector, and willingness to be flexible in working hours and able to travel as required.
You will have a specific focus on supporting people from Armed Forces communities who are affected by domestic abuse. This will include providing tailored, one-to-one support when required, helping individuals to feel safe, heard, informed and empowered, in partnership with Scottish Women’s Aid.
Due to the geography of the area it is essential you have a full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
