Main Purpose of Job

Winning Leishman are seeking an experienced Fundraiser to join our team. This post will involve research into grant makers, developing funding proposals and following up with reports and communications to maximise long-term income generation on behalf of Winning Leishman’s clients.

Responsibilities

• Support the identification of trust and foundation funding opportunities through research

• Create tailored applications to a wide range of funders

• Create reports and other communications to funders

• Maintain a schedule of applications and reports

Person Specification

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in preparing funding applications to trusts and foundations (essential)

• Experience of working in the charity sector (essential)

• Reliable and well organised with good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

• Excellent IT skills, Excel and MS Office, with a working knowledge of database systems

• Strong written skills

• A creative and lateral thinker

• Professional, courteous, respectful and confident

• Proactive and self -motivated with a positive and enthusiastic approach to teamwork

Qualifications

• Degree (in any subject), studying towards a degree or equivalent (desirable)

Families Outside is looking for a Fundraising Officer with knowledge and experience of fundraising. The postholder will support our work to ensure we can continue to deliver our full range of programmes effectively whilst ensuring our long-term financial stability.

The Role

As a key member of the Families Outside team, supported by the Director of Policy & Influencing, the Fundraiser will provide a strategic approach to fundraising, working alongside the Fundraising Officer to source funding for existing staff and resources, identify and pursue ethical and diverse funding sources, and compose funding bids that support the Strategic Aims of Families Outside. The right candidate will develop and maintain relationships with funders and potential funders, including through the timely drafting and submission of comprehensive funding reports, and work across the organisation to develop relevant funding applications with colleagues for a range of projects and initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a creative, confident, and experienced individual, ideally with a charitable organisation background, to join us to support and promote the work of Families Outside. With experience in fundraising and relationship management, you will be able to support the identification, contact, and development of new funding relationships and to manage existing ones. We are looking for individuals who have:

• experience of working in fundraising or business development
• knowledge of the principles of fundraising
• good negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• excellent organisational skills, including ability to work on your own initiative and to manage and prioritise workloads effectively
• a strong understanding and commitment to our organisational mission and values

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland that works solely to support families affected by imprisonment. Imprisonment can often have a huge impact on the things that matter most to families: money and secure housing, safe and connected relationships at home and in the community, and emotional health and wellbeing. Families Outside is dedicated to providing a range of practical, social, and emotional support to people with someone in prison that are relationship-based, prison-aware, and family-focused.

Mindspace Limited is a community-based voluntary organisation committed to supporting and promoting the mental well-being of people in the Perth area. Mindspace is funded by NHS Tayside, Perth & Kinross Council, Health and Social Care Partnership, the Scottish Government and donations. Mindspace aims to promote mental well-being in a safe and supportive environment.

PURPOSE OF POST

The Young People’s Recovery College was formed in October 2016. From its inception, the Young People’s Recovery team have successfully developed and delivered self-management, awareness and information sessions for young people with lived experience of mental ill health.

We need an enthusiastic and skilled facilitator to join our team and continue the development of the Young People’s Recovery College in partnership with the Adult Recovery College and Counselling service.

• Leading on the delivery and implementation of our community, events and individual funding streams to reach our income targets
• Proactively seeking out new supporters, stewarding existing donor relationships and following up on prospects
• Securing and undertaking speaking engagements to raise awareness and funds for The Yard
• Leading by example; sharing your energy, knowledge, ideas and insights to inspire confidence and drive forward the development of our income streams

About you:

This job is for you if you have:

• Proven experience working within a fundraising or equivalent role
• Had significant success in managing and growing income for community, events and/or individual sources to meet financial targets
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive can-do attitude and a friendly, approachable manner
