Role
We are looking for a new Advice Officer - Money who shares our values and will use them to guide the way they work on a daily basis.
The Advice officer will offer support to people, particularly older people who are struggling financially and who reside in the communities served by WSHA. This is an integral role within the team, and the postholder will be expected to embrace taking a holistic approach to supporting customers.
You should:
- Be able to carry out a comprehensive assessment of individual customer’s needs, detailing in a coordinated support plan what actions need to be completed to help address issues or difficulties they are facing.
- Be skilled in providing money management, debt and budgeting advice services to individuals and groups, including online banking, household bills, understanding financial liability and price comparisons.
- Have a flexible and methodical approach to organising and prioritising a high-volume caseload
- Have a good understanding and ability to assist customers onto repayment programmes, including negotiating and liaising with creditors on customer’s behalf. Make appropriate referrals to specialist agencies for Protected Trust Deeds, Bankruptcy and the Debt Arrangement Scheme and any other appropriate debt solutions

Our Financial Wellbeing Team works towards the strategic aim of improving financial health and wellbeing.
We do this by delivering evidence-based money guidance to several audiences, including schools, colleges, communities, and workplaces.
We also deliver financial wellbeing training to professionals, administer our e-learning modules and create a wide range of digital resources so that people can access financial information in a format that is most suited to their needs.
This role will be a key part of the team offering prevention approaches with communities, schools and individuals. In addition it will provide follow-up after a financial solution to ensure sustainable outcomes.
This role involves a new and innovative prevention approach thanks to funding from the Robertson Trust.

Applications are invited for experienced Benefits & Debt Advisers to advise on benefits, income maximisation, debt management and sustaining accommodation. The successful applicants will form part of a team working from base and in other locations within the city. It is essential to have a thorough knowledge of the benefits system, income maximisation and some experience of debt management to Type II. A proven record of case work in Money Advice with vulnerable clients is required. Familiarity of the voluntary sector would be an advantage.
The post holders will be expected to deal effectively and efficiently with clients, maintain full case records, statistics and reports on activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing money advice casework service to clients, undertaking detailed casework on their behalf
- Providing support for money advice within the CAB Generalist service, including to both staff and volunteers.
