We seek a playful, adaptable and confident individual for this post, to deliver high quality services, enabling children to thrive through play.
Play Midlothian is a registered charity (no. SC025474) working to support children to thrive through play. We strive to remove barriers to play, and address inequalities, to ensure all children have access to play that meets their needs.
Play Midlothian uses a range of service delivery models, but all services have playwork practice and self-directed play at their core, in particular use of loose parts and play with natural materials.
The sessions take place in a variety of community settings. Some are indoors, though a high proportion of our current services are exclusively outdoors (all year round), therefore the role will particularly suit applicants with a fondness for the outdoors.
We work with children and young people aged 0-13 (and at times older), with their parents/carers at some sessions, and often with specific needs (including disability and emerging mental health challenges).
The hours will be worked over four or five days on a rota pattern, including mornings, afternoon shifts up to 6pm and on Saturdays. The contracted hours are 15 per week, however we have plans for expanded and new services, therefore at some point it may be possible for the postholder to increase their hours.
For the right candidate, this will be a highly rewarding and stimulating role, offering plenty of variety in their work, while enabling their passion for children’s play to shine though. We offer support, training and development opportunities, enhanced sick pay and an Employee Assistance Programme.
Please do read the application pack (see below) for more information on the post, our services and the job description and person specification.
