Role
Colleges Scotland is the voice of the college sector in Scotland. As the membership organisation, we campaign, advocate and influence policy on behalf of the sector. Colleges Scotland is a connecting organisation, harnessing the capacity of wider sector resource to produce greater impact and have more influence with key stakeholders.
Scotland’s 24 colleges operate in 13 regions across Scotland, allowing them to plan nationally and regionally, as well as deliver locally, and there is a regional strategic body co-ordinating approaches for colleges in the Highlands and Islands region. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Corporate and Governance Manager to lead and ensure effective delivery of our corporate function.
About the Role
This is a pivotal role, directly supporting the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer, Directors and the Senior Leadership Team. You will act as Secretary to the Board, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, while also overseeing finance, corporate services, and governance processes.
The postholder will manage a small team and work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs that meet the needs of our organisation and members.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance, smooth running of the Board of Trustees, and good information flow through supporting the Board of Trustees and Committee operations.
- Advise the Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team on governance matters, to ensure the Board of Trustees adheres to approved policies and procedures, and is kept abreast of potential developments.
- Lead corporate governance processes, including compliance with appropriate standards and obligations, and development of governance within Colleges Scotland.
- Oversee corporate services, including office management, business continuity planning, contracts, and service-level agreements.
- Manage and monitor budget, and oversee financial planning and reporting across the function, driving additional income streams as appropriate.
- Line manage the Finance Officer and Corporate and Governance Officer, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
- Provide expert support to the Executive Team.
About You
We are looking for an accomplished manager who brings:
- Education to SCQF Level 10 or equivalent experience.
- Experience providing governance support and advice at Board level.
- Strong financial management and planning skills.
- Excellent organisational and project management ability, with the confidence to lead.
- Highly effective communication and influencing skills, with credibility across senior stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a team.
- A diplomatic, solution-focused and pragmatic approach, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Scotland’s college sector is desirable but not essential.
Reports to: Director of Strategic Policy and Corporate Governance
Direct reports: Finance Officer and Corporate and Governance Officer

About the role
As the Registered Manager, you will be an experienced leader leading a team working with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
As the Registered Manager you will:

- Where a need or an opportunity is identified, lead on the development of new services, support business growth and maintain reputational excellence.
- Comply with governance, law and legislation including local authority compliance, Care Inspectorate (at level 5 and above), SSSC and safeguarding procedures.

About You
You will have passion and drive to take forward a well-established Service and Team. Be passionate; and committed to the overall aims and objectives of the service and have the belief that people can live fulfilling lives with the right support in place.
You should also have:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people and leading a service delivery team, including managing the provision of a safe operating environment in a relevant context.
- The ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external partners and build positive relationships including local authorities and housing associations.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise your own time and workload to meet a number of different and competing tasks in sometimes pressurised environment.
- Social Service and Health Care at level 9 (SCQF) or other speciality/qualification recognised by the SSSC for registration purposes as well as a relevant management qualification.

Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer

About Us
Recyke-a-bike (part of Fallin Community Enterprises) has been in operation since 2005. We began as a small recycling social enterprise that quickly grew into a job club, using bike recycling as work experience for our members. Over the years we’ve seen a lot of growth and now offer training services and cycling outreach work, in addition to our bike recycling and sales through our well stocked and modestly priced shop.
Purpose
To support the delivery of the Bikeability programme in partnership with Cycling Scotland and Stirling and Clackmannanshire local authorities. The Outreach Worker and Cycle Trainer will also support the delivery of all cycling-based activities delivered by Recyke-a-bike.
Responsibilities
Main:
- Delivery of Bikeability Training to Children.
- Delivery of Adult Cycle Training.
- Maintenance of bikes and equipment for each of the following fleets: Stirling, Clackmannanshire, EBike, Practical Cycle Awareness Training (PCAT) and Adult Cycle Training Fleets.
- Managing health and safety within area of responsibility.
- Carrying out risk assessments for Bikeability sessions.
- Planning, risk assessing and delivering other cycle related sessions, events and activities.
- External liason with third parties including schools, local councils, community groups and organisations, as well as charities and businesses.
- Attending team meetings.
- Attending continuous professional development (CPD) training.
Additional:
- Building bikes for the shop when not busy.
- Collecting bike donations for the shop.
- Deliver Doctor Bike services across the Forth Valley when required.
- Assisting other departments where needed.
- Any other reasonable duties consistent with working for a small charitable organisation.
