Role
We're looking for a passionate community activity worker with experience of working with the over-55s, understanding of the challenges this group faces, and the drive to provide services that make a difference.
Hibernian Community Foundation is the charitable arm of Hibernian Football Club. We use the power of football to improve lives. Our strategic priority is to improve the physical and mental health of people from low-income households. We do this by providing community meals (1,000 each month), organising social, wellbeing and fitness activities from our Community Hub (450 people every month), and organising football sessions for people of all ages and abilities (700 participating weekly).
We are a team of 15, working with 40 sessional staff and 150 volunteers, based in an office and a dedicated Community Hub within Easter Road Stadium. We raise funds for our programmes from grant makers, companies, and by organising fundraising events and appeals. We also operate as a social enterprise, generating income from pay-to-play football sessions to give everyone in the community the opportunity to play.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, promote and deliver wellbeing and physical health events and activities for over 55s, targeting those
- Build a network of over 55s and older people’s groups, charities and agencies.
- Involve older people in all aspects of the design and delivery of events and activities, from concept to evaluation.
- Set up and coordinate activities with the aim of maximising use of HCF’s Community Hub
- Recruit volunteers to assist and, if appropriate, lead on delivery; manage a pool of volunteers.
- Assist older people in the community to understand the services available in the local community and how these can be accessed.
- Actively promote the activities and sessions on offer with Hibernian Community Foundation to people in the surrounding area.
- Contribute to the ongoing monitoring information, evaluation and development of the programme, designing appropriate methods to capture and record information.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- An understanding of the impact of loneliness and self-isolation on wellbeing and health.
- Knowledge of games, sports, arts & crafts activity suitable for group participation.
- Able to motivate people and encourage participation, including in the design and development of programmes and activities.
- Strong communication skills, enabling partnerships with other organisations.
- Passionate about offering superior services and want to make a difference.
- A team player who engages well with partners, participants and colleagues.
- Experience of report writing, budgeting and making funding applications. We use Office 365 and would expect you to be comfortable using Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

Desirable
- Awareness of third sector community services in Edinburgh.
- Knowledge of delivering community mental health services.
- Experience of recruiting and working with volunteers.
- Experience of devising measures to capture project outcomes.
- Full UK driving licence.
Working pattern
Three days/week, days to be agreed with the successful candidate and to include Mondays. Occasional flexibility to work on other days to support specific events, including some out-of-hours working, will be required.

Information - financial and non-financial advice to fundholders on all aspects of endowment funds will also be essential. This role will also be the main financial lead for the charity. The postholder will work as part of a wider finance team.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.

FearFree Support Worker

FearFree is the only male and LGBT+ domestic abuse victim support service in Scotland and continues to be recognised as the only person-centred support service in Scotland available for male and LGBT+ victims of domestic abuse. This is particularly important given the steep rise in reported domestic abuse incidents over the recent years.
We are looking for candidates who have experience of working with individuals who have experienced domestic abuse. You must also have experience of working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds as well as an excellent understanding of the effects and issues facing those who have experienced domestic abuse. You will need to be an effective communicator, highly organised and have effective casework management skills.
You will work closely with other partners and agencies and be expected to ensure the continued development of good partnership working.
Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement this post.
