Trustees help steer Carr Gomm’s strategy and ensure we stay true to our purpose. As a Trustee you will oversee our assets and reputation, and make sure decisions always put the people we support first. There are no specific qualifications or prior board experience needed – we value your skills and lived experiences more. We are looking for people who share our values of respect, interdependence, choice, control, openness & honesty and kindness & compassion. However, if you have professional experience in law, accountancy, marketing or IT this would be a great addition to the range of skills our board currently has.

We want to build a diverse board and actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds – particularly those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

There is a commitment required from you as our board meets at least 6 times a year (with the option of online attendance), but in return we provide induction, ongoing training and the opportunity to develop your skills and a chance to explore and diversify your area of interest.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about changing expectations and experiences of people we support, many of whom have experienced significant trauma, exclusion and stigma. They often engage in risk taking behaviours that put their physical and mental health, and their lives at risk. Despite the challenges they face they have incredible resilience, survival skills and a wicked sense of humour. They know what a good, and not so good service looks like.

Within this exciting new role, you will be supporting women at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. This role will connect and support women throughout Scotland who are affected by gambling. Aila is a new website that has been created for women who are experiencing harm from gambling. The role will involve developing and hosting spaces where women can gain access to trauma-informed support, conversations and better understanding the harms linked with gambling. This role will involve working directly with women to create safe spaces while fostering connections. We welcome women who have experienced gambling harm or have been affected by someone else's gambling to apply.

Job Purpose

Within a team of skilled practitioners, this role will:

• Create psychologically safe spaces where women feel comfortable connecting, learning, and being empowered to help grow the project through co-design and engagement.
• Provide progressive support and care that goes beyond traditional approaches, reimagining what services for women can offer.
• Support a culture which encourages leadership through empowerment and dynamic risk-informed decision-making.
• Work using a human-rights-based approach to ensure women have their rights upheld. Support women to activate their rights, upskill, access advocacy services and pathways, and address systemic barriers.

We are looking for Trustees interested in Disabled People's Organisations and Independent Living, who have skills relevant to Board governance.

The Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living (LCiL) is a person-led not-for-profit organisation. We work with disabled people regardless of their impairments, people with long-term conditions and older people, parents and carers. We support people in Edinburgh, West Lothian, East Lothian and Midlothian.

LCiL support Independent Living. Independent Living means all disabled people having the same freedom, choice, dignity, and control as other citizens at home, at work, and in the community. It does not mean living by yourself or fending for yourself. It means rights to practical assistance and support to participate in society and live an ordinary life.

The Opportunity

LCiL is looking to recruit up to four new board members. You would be joining the organisation at a crucial and exciting time. After some staffing issues and dealing with the loss of our much-loved Chair in early January, the organisation has now settled under the leadership of its former CEO who has returned in an interim capacity. One of her primary tasks is to recruit a permanent Chief Executive with guidance from the Board. Thus, she is also supporting the growth of this new team of Board members alongside our existing Directors. LCiL is a vibrant Disabled People’s Organisation, and as such we are looking for individuals with experience of disability or with a strong interest in Independent Living for Disabled People. Additionally, you would bring relevant professional skills to the role.

We are currently looking for individuals with experience in business development, customer care, volunteer support, communications (digital), Human Resources (HR), deputy chair/convenor, board Secretary, Company Secretarial matters, governance, finance, policy and fundraising. However, we are happy to discuss any other experience and skills you feel would contribute to LCiL’s success.

VSA currently have an exciting opportunity available to join our Operations Team as a Continuous Improvement and User Engagement Manager. This will be a Full-time, Permanent position and in return, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits.

The Continuous Improvement and User Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in developing, implementing, and overseeing processes to ensure the continuous improvement of services provided by VSA. Central to this role is ongoing engagement with people who use our services, and their families, to ensure they have a genuine role in shaping the service VSA provides. The post holder will be responsible for assessing and enhancing and embedding practice and supporting and developing the quality of leadership and management of services, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the organisation is compliant with all relevant regulatory standards.

Purpose of Role:

Responsible for ensuring best practice in engaging with service users to place them at the centre of everything VSA does. The post holder will support improvement planning across all services, working with managers to develop robust plans and acting as a critical friend in implementing continuous improvement in response to user needs and best practice and using mechanisms exist and are sustained for them to be heard.
