Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate with the right experience who is looking to use their policy and communication skills to support the development of Scotland’s higher education sector.
Having embarked on a strategic review of our priorities and activities last year, the Trust is now developing a refreshed Strategic Plan for 2026-31, with a renewed focus on enhancing our impact, reach and relevance in today’s landscape to champion and drive equality of opportunity and outcome in Scotland’s higher education system.
This post has been created to support the development and delivery of an emerging portfolio of strategic projects, and to lead on aspects of the Trust’s communications; ensuring outcomes are shared with relevant parties and building relationships and partnerships to grow awareness of the Trust and its work.

To oversee all aspects of the Hamilton District Foodbank operation and ensure alignment to the agreed operating model as follows:
- Recruiting volunteers including interviews, reference checks, disclosure checks (as required), and obtaining signed confidentiality / GDPR agreements
- Recruiting and supporting Duty Co-ordinators
- Organising and facilitating volunteer training
- Ensuring that all volunteers adhere to the confidentiality agreement
- Ensuring that the Foodbank meets Health and Safety standards
- Ensuring that the Foodbank meets Environmental Health standards
- Developing, maintaining and ensuring compliance to policies and procedures (e.g. Safeguarding)
- Maintaining awareness of the benefit system and any changes to it, and understanding and responding to the impact of those changes on the Foodbank operation and future plans

- Ensuring that the Foodbank maintains the online database, website, and social media

Outreach Worker – Dunfermline East Parish Church

As a church community we want to continue to follow God’s leading to make disciples and we are looking to build on and develop these connections in order that those in the local area have the opportunity to find faith in Jesus Christ.
Taking an active leadership role, alongside the minister and congregation, we are now seeking someone with passion and experience in outreach to lead us in extending and developing our existing work, and creating fresh opportunities for making disciples.
You will bring a collaborative approach with experience of leading new initiatives and working positively with volunteers which will enable you to work with us in developing our connections in the community.
We want to enable as wide a range of candidates to apply as possible and so we are open to applications being submitted on a full or part-time basis as well as flexible working.

Outreach Manager & Youth Practitioner

Overview of Organisation:
Heavy Sound is a Community Interest Company, incorporated in 2015, based in East Lothian. We work with disconnected young people and adults, re-engaging them through strength-based activities of interest including music, biking, sports, creative arts, education, mentoring and 1:1 therapy. By building trusting relationships we help inspire positive opportunities for further learning, life skills development, and future training and employment.
Job role:
The role is to manage and deliver outreach youth work projects, activities, and events across East Lothian, working in partnership with existing youth clubs and other stakeholders.
Heavy Sound has a 40ft single decker bus, The Community Reach & Inclusion Bus (The Crib) which provides community outreach initiatives including music, creative arts, and bike activities. The role will involve bringing equipment, and on occasions our bus (The Crib), along to youth clubs and community events, and running various activities from it. Activities will mainly be music and bike-based consisting of DJ’ing, electronic music production and basic bike mechanics. If there is not suitable space for The Crib, activities take place in community halls etc.
The role can either be part-time to deliver the above, or potentially full-time if the applicant has an additional skillset in music, creative arts, biking, sports, outdoor pursuits, education, or mentoring.
An ability to drive the bus is not essential but would be highly desirable. Only a normal Category B driving license is required as the vehicle doesn’t carry passengers and is classed as a ‘mobile project vehicle’ by DVLA.
Flexible working is required as there will be evening and occasional weekend work.
