Friends of the Earth Scotland is seeking a Network Coordinator for Young Friends of the Earth Scotland, a grassroot network of young people (aged 16-30) from across Scotland working collectively for social and climate justice.

As our network is youth-led, this roll will involve working collaboratively to support and empower young people to make decisions and develop their skills. You will be coordinating the delivery of high-quality events across Scotland

Working alongside the Youth Engagement Intern, you will coordinate and encourage the growth of a diverse and inclusive network.

You will also work closely with the Movement Building Lead to support FoES movement building work, including supporting the development and delivery of key campaigns.

Location: Based in Edinburgh (at least 1 day per week) with hybrid working arrangements. Other arrangements for people based elsewhere in Scotland is possible by negotiation. You will also be expected to undertake some travel around Scotland in the course of your work.

As our Energy Advice Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in helping people make changes to the way they live that will be good for them and good for the planet. You’ll be focused on helping our Energy team deliver our new Community Energy Empowerment Programme across the Forth Valley and Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park region. This programme is closely linked to our Climate Hub programme, and as such you will liaise closely with the Climate Coordinator, to ensure both teams add value and maximise outcomes.

You’ll also work with FEL partners to unlock investment and kick-start new initiatives around environmental sustainability and tackling climate change. You’ll lead a small team looking after volunteer recruitment, support and retention for this new programme, and will occasionally be needed to work evenings or weekends. Your base will be at our main Stirling offices, but we support hybrid and home working too. This role involves travelling to community centres and private residences across the Forth Valley.

We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.

We lead the Cosy Kingdom partnership, a free and impartial energy advice service available to all tenants and homeowners across Fife. We help people save energy, stay warm while spending less on fuel and develop skills and confidence to take more control of their energy use and bills. Our work plays a vital role supporting people in, or at risk of, fuel poverty and makes an important contribution to tackling carbon emissions and climate change.

The Role

We are looking for two energy advisors to join our team. One permanent and one maternity cover. You can apply for either or both posts.

Our energy advisors delivering energy advice work across Mid and West Fife. You will provide home energy advice and support to householders through a mix of home visits, telephone appointments and drop-in advice surgeries in our building and at community events. This will include support to help people struggling to heat their homes, advice on reducing energy and tips on making homes more climate friendly. You will also refer on to partners and other relevant external agencies for further support.

You will deliver events, talks and workshops to raise the profile of the service and educate people on saving energy, as well as training to frontline workers on how to “spot and refer” people in, or at risk of, fuel poverty.

We will provide training and you will be supported by a great team.

Our work plays a vital role supporting people in, or at risk of, fuel poverty and makes an important contribution to tackling carbon emissions and climate change.

The Role

We are looking for a handyperson to join our team who will support people in, or at risk of fuel poverty, by fitting simple energy-efficiency measures in their homes. These measures include putting up curtain poles and thermal curtains, installing radiator reflector panels, draught-proofing, and fitting LED light bulbs.

You will also be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining Greener Kirkcaldy’s premises.

We will provide training, and you will be supported by a great team.
