Role

Are you passionate about youth participation and ensuring that LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland are given the opportunities and skills to work on the issues that matter to them, and speak truth to power? Are you an affable and effective manager of both people and projects? Can you provide support to LGBT Youth Scotland’s youth participation and voice programme of work and its Officers. If so, we want to hear from you.

Join our vibrant team of staff and volunteers delivering high quality services supporting LGBTQ+ young people right across Scotland.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative person to be our new Participation Manager.

A new and hybrid role, you will:

  • Oversee and manage the delivery of LGBT Youth Scotland’s youth participation function so that it can best upskill and build LGBTQ+ leaders now and well into the future
  • Directly line and task manage the Officers who oversee projects and functions within Participation, including our Youth Commissions
  • Enable LGBTYS to be a deliverer of best practice around youth participation, enabling wider learning across sectors, as well as meaningful and measurable change amongst participants

This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of youth participation within Scotland and make a lasting, and sometimes life-saving, impact for LGBTQ+ young people, as well as supporting them to make such impacts themselves.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • a youth work, youth participation, or youth-centred practice background, as well as being an adept project and person manager
  • an acute understanding of the issues facing young LGBTQ+ young people and a commitment to supporting their building areas of work that they are impassioned about
  • the skills to be an excellent networker and communicator, building and strengthening relationships and partnerships across the sectors in which LGBT Youth Scotland work
