What you’ll need to be successful

The postholder will be the volunteering team lead on the strategic and cross-organisational approach to volunteer communications and engagement, ensuring our volunteers feel connected and committed to Victim Support Scotland and have the information and updates they need to carry out their roles. This involves acting as a source of expertise around volunteer communications and engagement and being a key enabler of engagement initiatives. For example, the postholder will keep up to date with innovative practice around volunteer engagement and retention, making recommendations to colleagues about new approaches, driving forward key programmes and projects such as Volunteers’ Week and advising and empowering colleagues and stakeholders to value and recognise volunteers. Alongside these responsibilities, the postholder will work closely with other members of the volunteering team on shared ongoing responsibilities within the team. These include the delivery of our volunteering strategy, the recruitment and induction of volunteers, and supporting the onboarding and offboarding of volunteers.

What you’ll need to be successful

The ideal candidate will be used to working independently as well as part of a team and be able to demonstrate experience of managing a challenging workload in a busy environment to meet deadlines. The postholder will be the volunteering team lead on a people driven, strategic and cross-organisational approach to learning and development for both our volunteers and volunteer line managers. This role ensures that VSS volunteers and the staff who manage and support them have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their roles. Acting as a source of expertise, the postholder will be up to date with current theories and practice relating to learning and development. They will drive forward key programmes such as a review of our learning and development offer for volunteers, contribute to the delivery of VSS current volunteer learning and development programme and advise and support colleagues and stakeholders around learning. What is the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Support for Families Bereaved by Crime (SFBC) team as Key Support Worker, working working year round, 35 hours per week. The main hours of work are Monday – Friday 8am - 8pm & Saturday 10am - 4pm. A TOIL policy is in place.

As a member of the team and reporting to the SFBC Manager, the role of Key Support Worker is to provide comprehensive support to families bereaved by murder or culpable homicide. This will involve providing structured social support, emotional and practical support, sourcing and providing up to date information, liaising with other justice and community organisations, supporting the family as they interact with the criminal justice system and helping them to reach a new balance in their lives after trauma. You will play a key part in the ongoing evaluation, development and improvement of the service including advocacy, peer support and support for children and young people. You will work closely with colleagues in other agencies such as counselling services, Police Scotland and representatives from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

This is a complex role in a fast paced environment within a supportive team and you will be expected to show excellent communication skills, high level administrative and recording skills, a commitment to partnership working and ensuring that the needs of families are at the heart of the service through service user engagement and participation work.

What you’ll need to be successful

We are looking for someone who is educated to SVQ3 Level or experienced in a equivalent role, effective leadership style, excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to use own initiative, self-sufficient with the ability to manage own workload and a good observation skills to assess and support victims where they may be unable to articulate their wants and needs due to trauma. Good working knowledge of the voluntary/charity sector is required, as is a willingness to be flexible in working hours and able to travel as required.

East Dunbarton Women’s Mentoring Service

A Criminal Justice Support Worker is required to provide support and advice through structured mentoring for females who are involved in the Criminal Justice System.

Support needs vary significantly dependant on criminogenic needs/risks, examples include: addressing offending behaviour through the delivery of behaviour change programmes, supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, exploring housing options, compliance with statutory orders and supporting service users to access education/ employment. Experience of working with women in the criminal justice system is essential. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. Successful applicants will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users. Multi-Agency working is crucial as Sacro work in partnership with East Dunbarton Criminal Justice Social Work, housing and other agencies to provide holistic support to service users.

A valid driving licence is essential for this post.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) will be a requirement for this post
