This is a unique opportunity to lead Children’s Parliament, an internationally renowned and respected organisation promoting children’s human rights, as we look to recruit an inspirational and highly skilled Director.

We want someone who can lead and develop a passionate team of expert practitioners in raising awareness and understanding of children’s rights amongst children and adults. Together we need to help them understand how we can improve children’s lives, support the people and organisations who support our children, and help to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024.

The Director will lead a Senior Leadership Team, consisting of the Head of Programmes, Head of Operations and Senior Programme Manager. The Director will inspire our talented and dedicated team, using their professional networks to advocate for children as the face and voice of Children’s Parliament, and realise the opportunities we have to change lives for the better. They will work with partners and stakeholders to drive culture change in the environments in which children live, learn and play and support a new chapter for Scotland’s human rights journey following the UNCRC incorporation for which we successfully campaigned this year.

We are seeking a dynamic and effective leader who will stand up and champion children’s rights. They will need to demonstrate their experience in senior leadership roles, including strategic planning, financial oversight, leadership, and risk management.

The ability to support and drive a diverse and skilled team is essential. Having experience of rights-based, creative practice will be important in being able to provide ongoing support, expertise and guidance across Children’s Parliament’s programmes. A comprehensive understanding of the political and policy landscape for children's and wider human rights in Scotland is vital as is the ability to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders.

The Director will need to demonstrate their belief that children are equal and valuable citizens. As a leader, their passion should shine through their words and actions, backed up with the expertise to navigate the challenges of ensuring Children’s Parliament continues as an internationally recognised beacon of good practice and inspiration.

The role

We are at a highly exciting stage in the reshaping of our services as we build sustainable, resilient, therapeutic, and inclusive registered day care and commissioned community supports of the highest quality that can maximise our resources and potential growth opportunities.

Based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow, the Head of Quality will work in close collaboration with the Executive Lead for Operations to ensure that our registered and commissioned services deliver high quality, safe and compassionate care. The role will be responsible for assuring and improving the quality of our registered and commissioned services by determining and undertaking appropriate scrutiny, assurance and improvement activities aligned with the Care Inspectorate Core Assurances and Alzheimer Scotland’s Quality Guarantees and Continuous Quality Improvement Framework.

The role has the lead responsibility for continuous improvement in the quality of our services, the processes that underpin high quality, evidence based, person-centred therapeutic support and in ensuring better outcomes for the people we support.

The person

You will have the right level of personal qualities, experience, knowledge and qualifications, demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and high levels of emotional intelligence, with experience of managing people, supporting staff development and promoting a positive culture. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised with a collaborative approach to working with others to deliver shared objectives and drive continuous improvement in our practice. You will have a high-level knowledge and understanding of dementia and substantial experience in the management and delivery of services and hold a relevant practice qualification to meet the Scottish Social Services Council registered management requirements. Age Scotland is the Scottish charity for older people, working with and supporting thousands of older people across Scotland through our services, our membership network and communities of interest.

The charity has set out an ambitious income generation strategy, seeking to double its income by 2030. The opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Commercial Development to join the charity and explore opportunities to develop our commercial revenue stream, including through our established workforce training programmes and other, previously tested initiatives, such as energy provision and financial services products. The Scottish Episcopal Institute (SEI) seeks to appoint a Director of Contextual Formation. The Director of Contextual Formation oversees all elements of SEI’s dispersed, part-residential, formation-led placements and contextual training in Initial Ministerial Education (IME); teaches on all levels from certificate to master’s qualifications in the areas of ministry, missiology and pastoral/practical theology, including supervising and marking dissertations. In addition to IME, SEI provides a range of training and support for lay and ordained members of the Scottish Episcopal Church to which the Director of Contextual Formation contributes. The post is based in Edinburgh with some flexibility for home working from another location in Scotland.

Candidates applying for the post will have:

• Episcopal/Anglican holy orders;

• Demonstrable ability in theological education, curate training, knowledge of current ecclesiological trends and an entrepreneurial spirit in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition;

• Postgraduate qualification in ministry, missiology, pastoral/practical theology or a closely related field (at least to master’s level);

• Passion for theological and vocational training that equips students to foster vibrant church life through evangelism and discipleship;

• The candidate will have drive and enthusiasm, be able to work on their own initiative and possess an understanding of the missiological and theological issues of the twenty-first century in Scotland.
