About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for Advocates to join and shape this service covering Fife. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. You will be home based for administration; therefore, access to your own transportation and a suitable home internet connection is essential.

About you

Desirably you will have some experience of working in advocacy, or providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing support.

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support. You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

We are looking for an experienced Mentor Support Worker to join our team developing Down’s Syndrome Scotland’s ‘Ready, Willing and Able’ new Inclusive Employment Programme for adults with Down’s syndrome seeking meaningful employment to reach their fullest potential.

The Mentor Support Officer will play a key role in the success of this new Inclusive Employment Programme by providing direct support to two employed mentors with Down’s syndrome. This position is dedicated to empowering the mentors, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance to ensure they thrive in their roles and are equipped to support programme participants effectively.

The role requires someone with experience of supporting individuals with Down’s Syndrome and/or learning disabilities, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in mentoring/coaching adults, familiarity within the employability sector would be beneficial. A proactive approach to problem-solving and mentorship is key.

The charity has been in existence for over 230 years, and offer a variety of services in the community as well as education, transcription into alternative formats and residential care for adults and children. Their vision is of an inclusive Scotland where people of all visual abilities have the opportunity to thrive. To achieve their mission they are looking for a Supporter Fundraiser who will proactively engage with supporters, community groups and volunteers in the community.

The Supporter Fundraiser will join Sight Scotland at an exciting stage, with a newly formed Cause and Engagement team, a new organisational strategy and direction, and a roadmap for fundraising planned. The charity is recruiting for 5 other fundraising roles alongside this role.

This role gets to see the full spectrum of what Sight Scotland’s amazing supporters do for the charity. You will spend time out and about meeting supporters across Scotland, understanding their fundraising goals and supporting them to achieve and surpass them. You will engage with community groups, speak at schools and workplaces, recruit and manage volunteers and support the delivery of fundraising events.

This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships with people across a wide spectrum of age, background, disability, and motivation. You would need to be enthusiastic, proactive and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A willingness to travel is a must as you will need to be out from behind a desk to build those all important relationships. There will be some evening and weekend work (for which TOIL is provided), so flexibility is key.

This role is an excellent starting point for fundraising as a career path, but some experience within charities would be useful for this role. This role could suit someone who has experience as a Fundraising Assistant and is looking to step into a role with more responsibility and supporter interaction, or perhaps someone who has worked in a different team within a charity but can demonstrate great relationship building skills.

The Digital and Social Media Creative is a new post, joining the Fundraising team within a newly formed Cause and Engagement team. It is an exciting time to join with investment in the Fundraising team, a new organisational strategy and direction, and a roadmap for fundraising planned. The charity is recruiting for 5 other fundraising roles alongside this role, including another digital fundraising role.

This role is responsible for developing and creating engaging digital content and for managing Sight Scotland’s social media channels. This role requires a mix of creativity, digital storytelling and a passion for social media in the charity sector. The role will enhance Sight Scotland’s online presence and engage their audiences, inspiring people to donate, take part in sponsored events and online campaign actions as well as contacting the charities for support with sight loss.

It is important that the successful candidate for this role has existing experience of working within a charity/fundraising environment. In order to ensure the role is successful, an understanding of fundraising and how we can effectively apply digital tools and techniques to support income generation is vital.
