Alzheimer Scotland supports people living with dementia and their carers, some of these people are under the age of 65 years old. We are looking for unique individuals who can support younger people living with dementia in Glasgow.
Our support workers are our most important people as they help individuals to maintain skills and independence by providing support to enable them to be active within their communities, participate in therapeutic activities and enjoy social stimulation.
Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia.
They will also have good communication skills and a caring attitude. A willingness to learn and participate in training is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
Full driving license and access to a vehicle during working time is essential for this post.

About the Role
In alignment with the SAMH “We Won’t Wait” strategy, SAMH aspire to effectively deliver innovative psychological wellbeing service on a large scale where anyone that needs help can get help fast, regardless of income or geography. We are excited to now be recruiting for a skilled and experienced clinician to join SAMH as Clinical Lead to provide clinical oversight and governance at a key time in the development of our psychological wellbeing offer.
Time for You is SAMH’s national psychological wellbeing service that provides a stepped-care model of support to individuals over 16 years old, living in Scotland who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health or wellbeing challenges. Time for You is currently predominantly delivered remotely, with place-based delivery being piloted in select locations, and offers the following support:
With a predominant focus on clinical decision making, the Clinical Lead will work closely with the Service Coordinator to assess client referrals in order to determine suitable allocation decisions. The Clinical Lead will also provide guidance to the Service Manager, Service Coordinator or Team Leader on clinical matters, and work closely with them to support and develop the practice of the practitioners and trainees.
The Clinical Lead will have a remit and responsibility for providing clinical governance and oversight to our current national psychological wellbeing service, Time for You, and work closely with the Senior Service Manager to review and implement clinical governance guidance and mechanisms. This would also include conducting audits and sampling of cases to ensure interventions delivered are based on an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems and that practitioners are effectively employing evidence-based approaches and models.
What we are looking for
We’re looking for someone with great clinical and people skills who is enthusiastic, pro-active and passionate about improving access to psychological wellbeing services to join our team and be a part of the expansion of SAMH’s psychological wellbeing services.
Specifically, we’re looking for a confident and experienced qualified clinician (Chartered Psychologist, Psychotherapist or Counsellor) who is an accredited member of a relevant professional body (i.e. HCPC, BACP, BABCP) with at least 5 years post qualification experience and a breadth of experience using multiple approaches and interventions in a range of settings.
We offer placements to students and trainees from multiple training programmes who are at differing stages of their training and utilise different approaches, therefore it is important that you have extensive knowledge of a variety of evidence-based psychological approaches and the ability to formulate appropriate interventions in line with best practice.
You will have excellent knowledge of clinical governance requirements and the ability to translate these into actionable processes and systems, as well as written guidance manuals. You will also be highly organised and solution-focused, able to work autonomously and take initiative to identify development opportunities and present solutions.
Although this role is currently predominantly focused on the Time for You service, psychological wellbeing is a key pillar of our current strategy. As such, you will be able to establish strong working relationships with a range of individuals across the organisation and be able to communicate clinical concepts and requirements clearly to a range of audiences through a range of mediums.
As Clinical Lead, your working hours will typically be carried out during core working hours (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri), however there may be a requirement to work some weekends as needed.

We are seeking a Helpline Support Worker (0.8 – 1.0 FTE) to support a number of national programmes and services, including Scottish Families Helpline, Click & Deliver Naloxone, and Bereavement Support services. The post operates as the first point of contact for family members (age 16+) affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use, and others contacting our Helpline and associated services.

The post is located at Edward House, Glasgow – Scottish Families’ national office. Note that staff work flexibly between home and office, but the post-holder is expected to work in the office at least two days a week. The postholder will be required to work some early evenings and occasional weekend hours to support planned Helpline coverage and event commitments. The post will be part of the Scottish Families’ staff team and be supervised by the Development Officer (National Support and Harm Reduction).
We are seeking applicants who are educated to HNC level or equivalent, with experience of providing support and information within a helpline or telephone capacity, and providing support in a health and social care setting. Applicants should have knowledge of issues for families affected by substance use, as well as the ability to listen to and support individuals from diverse demographics, and excellent IT skills, particularly use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel). Transform Forth Valley is offering this post in partnership with the Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership.
This post will be split with 3 days in the Falkirk Self-Neglect and Hoarding Service, and 2 days in the Falkirk Social Inclusion Project.
The aim of the Self-Neglect and Hoarding Service is to support people living in Falkirk who are experiencing issues with hoarding. We currently have an established Self-Neglect and Hoarding Service in Falkirk & Clackmannanshire, with this new post expanding our team. Self-neglect is an extreme lack of self-care, it is sometimes associated with hoarding.
People who experience self-neglect often decline help from others; in many cases they do not feel that they need it or can be overwhelmed by their circumstances and are often socially isolated. This often leads to crisis interventions following a significant deterioration. We work with people who are affected by hoarding disorder and other conditions that result in extreme clutter and chronic disorganisation to make long-term sustainable change. This service aims to provide early, effective, and supportive interventions to those adults who are experiencing self-neglect and hoarding.
We aim to provide early intervention to identify need to offer support and improve outcomes, by reducing health inequalities and enabling adults to realise their potential and be connected to resilient and compassionate communities
The Social Inclusion Project (SIP) supports people who use alcohol and drugs and have backgrounds of offending or other particularly challenging behaviour, to access existing services, referred by partner organisations. The SIP model complements the work of existing agencies/services by supporting people to interact with services when their complex needs (such as substance use, homelessness, mental health illness, learning disability, welfare benefits issues, social isolation and / or family dysfunction) present barriers for their access to care. The collaborative approach between the SIP and existing services is proven to deliver an effective means by which people can access services which they might otherwise struggle to interact with.
This post holder will work directly with the service user to enable their access to an integrated pathway across universal services including the ‘Third Sector’ and wider Health & Social Care services. The service aims to tackle the issues associated with social exclusion by supporting the people affected to enable their engagement with community-based supports.
The post holder will report to the Team Leader. They will work in partnership with colleagues from Falkirk Council’s Housing and Social Work, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Forth Valley and Substance Use Services. In partnership we aim to provide services that are specifically designed to identify, engage, and support individuals. This includes issues of substance use with mental health, physical health, exclusion, learning disabilities, offending behaviour, self-neglect & hoarding, anti-social behaviour, housing, and social problems.
The post holder as an employee of Transform Forth Valley will have a corporate responsibility to contribute to the overall performance of the organisation to ensure that contractual outputs and targets are achieved. There is a responsibility for the post-holder to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvements in service delivery for the benefit of the service user, the service, and the partners.
