Role
We are currently looking for motivated and committed individuals who share the Charity’s values and bring experience and expertise at a strategic level.
As a board member you are a non-executive director and trustee. In partnership with the other board members, you will be responsible for the governance of the organisation. The Directors must also ensure that LGBT Youth Scotland complies with the Companies Act 2006 and all other relevant legislation.
We are looking to appoint a number of new board members including those who may be interested in taking on the position of Vice Convener or Convener at an appropriate time. Specific skills we are looking to recruit include:
- Youth Work and Safeguarding
- Fundraising
- Marketing
- Digital Service Delivery
- Building a Social Enterprise
A strong profile in the third, public or corporate sector would be advantageous.
Your board position will be confirmed after successful short-listing, interview and any necessary checks including PVG, references, and your right to work in the UK.

Working closely with the LEAP team, the post-holder will be expected to provide administration and digital platform support for the programme delivery, communications, and operational work of LEAP. Predominantly this will involve our website, GSuite, and CRM system, but will include many other online systems and packages. The role is varied and would suit someone with experience of office administration and using online data systems. The postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects and initiatives, and a willingness to collaborate and work closely with colleagues is essential. The post-holder will work from the base of the charity in Glasgow but may need to attend events elsewhere from time to time.
We are seeking a motivated, skilled and reliable person with experience in training or education. You will have a good working knowledge of LGBTIQ+ identities, and be able to positively convey this information through (online and in-person) training for the sport and physical activity sector.
This comes at a time that we seek to grow our training and education offer, and develop our work with sport and physical activity stakeholders. Working collaboratively within the current team, the Training & Development Officer will deliver LGBTIQ+ awareness training and produce resources, all seeking to improve access and participation to sport and physical activity, whilst contributing positively to the organisation's mission and goals.
Location: The post-holder will primarily work from our Glasgow office, which can be combined with some home-working. Training delivery and partnership working will involve travel to work in other areas in Scotland.
The role
SCVO are looking for two passionate and strategic individuals to join SCVO's Board of Trustees. This is a highly rewarding role, offering the chance to shape SCVO’s strategic direction and help shape the future of Scotland’s voluntary sector. You will contribute to high-level decision making, and support the leadership team, and safeguard SCVO’s long-term sustainability. Trustees will contribute to governance, compliance, and key organisational events, while ensuring adherence to legislation and robust financial controls. You will give strong strategic insight, an understanding of Scotland's voluntary sector, and a commitment to SCVO’s mission. This role requires a time commitment across quarterly meetings and key internal and external events such as The Scottish Charity Awards and The Gathering.
The person
The ideal candidates will have a strong belief in the value of the voluntary sector in Scotland and SCVO’s contribution to it. While previous experience as a trustee is beneficial, it’s not essential. Key qualities include strategic planning, performance monitoring, and effective team collaboration. Trustees should demonstrate good governance knowledge, sound judgement, and a values-driven approach. An understanding of the voluntary sector’s context in Scotland, coupled with the ability to challenge constructively and work collectively, is crucial to support SCVO’s mission and long-term vision.

About ENSA’s Board of Directors
The Board is collectively in charge of ENSA, for upholding its values and aligning it to the Association’s charitable aims. It has overall responsibility for ENSA’s governance: budget-setting and financial reporting, health and safety, human resources and legal compliance.
The Board is made up of 12 Directors: six External Lay Directors (including the Chair) appointed through a competitive process for their professional expertise; three Student Lay Directors who are registered students of Edinburgh Napier University and appointed through a competitive process; and three Sabbatical Officers who are elected by the student body.
In line with charity law, all ENSA’s Directors (elected and appointed) have equal status. Directors have a variety of experience and skills which offer different perspectives, and are all, jointly and severally, liable for the governance of the charity. Directors are expected to take their responsibilities seriously, attend meetings, and manage any conflicts of interests appropriately.
