Role
We are looking for a Creative Engagement Assistant to support our team as we connect with audiences and young people through activities inspired by the performances on our stages, the heritage of our buildings and the redevelopment of the King’s Theatre.
This is a fantastic entry level opportunity for someone who is passionate about the arts and community engagement to gain experience across our extensive Creative Engagement programme.
This is a 4 days per week part time, 12-month fixed term post funded by National Heritage Lottery Foundation until Winter 2025.

Scottish Book Trust’s Writing Communities programme supports writers at all stages of their careers with advice, professional development opportunities, bursaries and mentoring, as well as running the Live Literature programme. Live Literature is a national initiative that works with an extensive range of partner organisations to allow the people of Scotland to meet and engage with authors, playwrights, poets, storytellers and illustrators. The Writing Communities Administrator (Live Literature) will provide efficient administration to support the smooth running of the Writing Communities programme. This role will primarily support the Live Literature programme but will also provide support more generally across the Writing Communities programme.

What will you do as Head of Operations?

- Funders Reporting & Financial Oversight: Manage funder reports, salary processing, contractor payments, and annual audits.
What we are looking for
- Leadership Skills:Demonstrated experience in managing teams and providing leadership within an operational context.

- Operational Management Expertise: Extensive experience in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring quality assurance, compliance, and smooth programme delivery.

We’ve been around for over 100 years and have much to be proud of in that rich and vibrant history, but we know that to remain exciting and relevant to young people we must continually evolve.
The overall purpose of the role is:
- The main purpose of this role is to support delivery of the Transformational Leadership Project, which is an innovative project designed to increase our volunteers’ skills and confidence in leadership roles
- We are now ready to begin a number of pilot projects and are looking for a new member to join our team to make that happen! These pilot projects include a range of activities including developing resources, delivering trainings/events and putting in place communication campaigns – all with the purpose of supporting our volunteers to enjoy their roles and work effectively in them.
- The role reports to the Head of Strategic Innovation, and the postholder will work with staff and volunteers across all teams
- The role sits as part of the Strategic Innovation team which develops and delivers innovative projects which support our organisational strategy and are recognised as having the potential to transform Girlguiding Scotland.
