Role

As part of Ofcom’s commitment to Making Sense of Media project for Glasgow City.

In partnership with Glasgow Life, Mhor Collective has created this exciting new role which will seek to deliver and support media literacy across Glasgow City. You will be responsible for delivering a media literacy project funded by Ofcom’s 'Making Sense of Media' (MSOM) programme.

Media Literacy or the ability to critically analyse stories presented in the mass media and to determine their accuracy or credibility is an essential skill in our increasingly online world of media and communications abundance. Ofcom’s research has shown that certain demographics (e.g. those with low digital skills, those living with long term health conditions and young people) are more likely to lack essential Media Literacy skills. Working a flexible 3-day week you will work with our partners to address these skills gaps across the city.

To increase digital inclusion and media literacy levels amongst target groups, the post holder will work alongside partners to create a range of exciting and engaging community-based learning opportunities to help individuals and groups develop the essential skills needed for life and work, thus ensuring they have more opportunities to participate in digital activity both in their own communities and beyond, increasing their ability to influence issues that affect them and their communities through individual and/or collective action.
