Do you want to work in varied teams making a big difference in people’s lives?

If so, then joining our pool of Communities casual workers could be perfect for you.

About the service

Since 1968, Cyrenians Communities have provided supportive living environments to people experiencing homelessness. Unlike traditional temporary accommodation, decisions are made within the Community itself, meaning the Communities offer not just housing, but also a safe, supportive space to rebuild confidence. Through the privacy, freedom and open-ended support provided by the community model, residents can feel safe, stable and in control to develop the skills to get out of the cycle of homelessness for good. We have 5 communities across Edinburgh and West Lothian:

City Community – based in Leith working with 16–30-year-olds and peer residential volunteers

Farm Community – based in West Lothian working with 16–30-year-olds and peer residential volunteers

Lotus Community – based in Leith working with 16–18-year-olds from the Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children community and peer residential volunteers

Village Community – based in Granton working with 18+ year-olds and peer residential volunteers

Crighton Place Community - based in Leith working with 30+ year-olds and peer day volunteers

· Confident working on your own initiative

Some experience of working with a similar client group would also be beneficial.

How we’ll support you

An experienced and knowledgeable team member will provide full induction, and you will receive support and supervision commensurate with hours you work. You’ll also have access to any required training for the post.
