We’re recruiting for a part time Finance Administrator to join our Finance team based at Dava Street in Glasgow.

The Finance Administrator will work closely with the Finance and Short Term Housing teams, Managers and colleagues throughout the organisation to ensure the production of effective financial administration in line with our operational and strategic objectives. The initial scope of the role will focus on resolving historical utility billing issues, and then will move to establish the utility and business billing administrative support needed within the charity.

Last year we supported almost 4000 individuals, helping to prevent them from becoming homeless or separated from the people they love. Main duties and responsibilities:

• Process premises utilities, telephone and internet payments
• Process premises council tax, business rates and general rate payments
• Process void utility payments and liaise with operational teams to verify void periods and meter reads
• Process void council tax payments
• Manage utility accounts and statements
• Monitor the utilities mailbox and ensure it stays up to date
• Process staff and volunteer expenses in line with our policies
• Process and reconcile staff petty cash claims and cash advance requests
• Process and reconcile 3rd party grants and manage grants in escrow
• Process purchase ledger supplier invoices ensuring accurate coding and invoice information is recorded correctly
• Obtain invoice approval from relevant staff members
• Reconcile supplier statements and account

What we expect from you..

We’re looking for someone with experience of working in a generalist finance environment, with knowledge of the processes and practices central to the daily finance function. What you can expect from us..

• The post holder will report to the Management Accountant.
• Working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexibly between the hours of 8am and 6pm, with core hours during the period of 10am to 4pm, with 1 hour unpaid break
• Your usual place of work will be 15 Dava Street, Glasgow, G51 2JA. You may also choose to work remotely from your home address where appropriate, working arrangements are in agreement with your line manager based on the needs of the service

The Outward Bound fundraising team raises £6m a year to provide charitable funding support for disadvantaged young people to participate in our residential courses and towards capital requirements across the Trust. The team of 18 is based across three locations at Waterloo, London, Head Office in Hackthorpe, Cumbria and Glasgow, Scotland.

As a Fundraising Executive, you will be part of a team working together with the Head of Scottish Partnerships to raise £750,000.

• Fundraising, donor stewardship and administration of Scotland’s Next Generation Project.
• Supporting the Head of Scottish Partnerships in the stewardship of Corporate and Major Donors.
• Responsibility for your own portfolio of smaller Trusts.
• Meeting and hosting visits for donors at our residential centres (some visits may require overnight travel).
• Maintaining accurate records on The Trust’s CRM database system (Microsoft Dynamics).
• Providing support for the planning and execution of fundraising events.
• Supporting the social media activity of the Scotland fundraising team.
• To be an active member of the team offering support with other associated tasks in line with the broad remit of the post.

You'll need

• Excellent communication skills by email, letter, phone, face-to-face and on social media to engage donors, make the ask for funding and liaise with project partners, young people and wider stakeholders.
• Excellent literacy to produce meticulously presented copy for proposals, applications and any other donor communications as required.
• Good research skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications, Word, Outlook Excel and good IT skills.
• Ability to understand young people’s needs with empathy.
