EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS: prospective candidates must have, or be working towards, basic accreditation to deliver a physical activity programme – although training may be provided to suitable candidate, external agencies will be used for advanced activities.

Granton Youth took its services outside during the pandemic and its success with young people in improving their skills, mental health and wellbeing means it is now an integral part of the GY programme. GY is recruiting a youth worker with experience of delivering a physical activities programme for young people aged 11+. The successful candidate will develop and implement a physical activity programme to work with young people to coordinate and design a programme of outdoor/indoor activities, in conjunction with young people and networking with activity providers. The post holder will provide 1:1/mentoring for any young person identified as requiring additional support.

The post holder will work with team members to deliver appropriate programmes to support and motivate young people to participate in the provision - including planning, development, decision-making processes and evaluation.

​We have an exciting opportunity for a new Outreach and Support Worker to join our Glasgow and Inverclyde locality team. This role will be working across Greater Glasgow ​and you will be the first person our participants meet.

​You’ll be a caring, dynamic and driven person, dedicated to levelling the playing field and equipping people with the tools they need to thrive. You’ll be comfortable and confident working autonomously, working alongside people with complex lives. Working across Greater Glasgow, and wilderness places across Scotland, you’ll provide bespoke and holistic 1:1 support for participants, spending time to get to know them, their strengths and where they want to go.

​You’ll help to shape their journeys, navigating 1:1, community and wilderness journey support, always harnessing the benefits of the outdoors and nature spaces to provide therapeutic benefit. You’ll accompany them on wilderness journeys and support them to develop employability skills. Across Greater Glasgow, we need you to work closely with referrers and partners to provide joined up support for participants, managing the differing needs of your case load, including working with young people and adults.

​As a Outreach and Support Worker, you will:

• Deliver group activities outdoors in community greenspaces
• Provide one-to-one support for participants, identifying and removing barriers to participation and supporting towards their individual goals
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, generating referrals for all programmes
• Promote Venture Trust within local communities
• Support the delivery of wilderness journey opportunities in Scotland’s wilder places
• Work closely with referral partners and any other stakeholders to provide joined up support for participants
• Work within a team structure with hybrid working arrangements

ACT is one of the projects funded through the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund, money provided to local authorities from the Scottish Government.

Role of the service:

The primary goal of ACT is to disrupt patterns of concern (antisocial behaviour and /or exploitation), enhancing the existing Early and Effective Intervention provision.

The service will accept referrals from young people, parent/carers, education, C&F Duty Social Work, Community Safety Partnership, and the 3rd Sector.

Job Purpose:

The post holder will work as part of a small multi agency team including staff from Youth Justice, Youth Action Project, and Action for Children.

The part time worker will deliver 1-1 interventions for a 3-to-6-month period, supporting young people from coming into conflict with the law, to prevent involvement in criminality and reduce risk of harm or exploitation.

Worker will provide information and strategies to manage conflict, improvement of family and peer relationships. Support to access education/training and employment, advice on substance misuse, health, and ways to manage leisure time more effectively will also be provided.

Development of group work programmes where appropriate and inclusion of contextual safeguarding workshops.

Accountable to: WLYAP Project Director and Team Manager / Assess and Connect Team.

West Lothian Youth Action Project (WLYAP) is an established West Lothian wide, Youth and Community based third sector organisation, with a reputation for positively engaging young people aged 10 -25 years, who are isolated from mainstream youth services. Our methods of approach are varied to maximise engagement. We are currently seeking youth workers to join our detached youth work team

Hours of work are Thursday and Friday evenings 6.30 – 10.00pm, Friday afternoons and Saturday afternoon/ evening. Shifts are flexible.

We are looking for motivated, confident individuals with a genuine interest in young people, who are able to build positive relationships with them in community settings. The aim of the work is to assist young people to reduce risk taking behaviour, minimise youth anti -social behaviour and to foster positive relationships with community groups, local businesses etc.

The Youth Workers will work in a variety of settings and will work alongside the Youth Action Project staff team and other partners.
