About Street Soccer

Street Soccer is a charity using football to create lasting change in the lives of isolated and excluded adults and young people. We run 60 sessions a week of free, inclusive and judgement-free football. These sessions provide person-centred support to players facing a number of challenges including mental health, homelessness, long term unemployment, problem substance use, criminal justice and seeking asylum. Our mission is to create hope and opportunity for all.

We support thousands of players a year on their journey to positive change by providing a safe space, trusting relationships and a sense of belonging. We fight isolation and exclusion by bringing people together, building confidence and creating supportive communities. We support people of all ages and backgrounds through relationship-based support, focusing on trust and personal development, supporting everyone to set and achieve their own goals. Thanks to the support of Street Soccer, 82% of players say that their quality of life has improved.

Lived experience is at the heart of what we do, with over 80% of our staff having lived experience of the challenges our players face. 97% of players think that Street Soccer is a unique organisation. With 15 years of experience delivering positive change through football, we are now working in more communities than ever, with city hubs in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and South London, and network of sessions across 6 other local authorities.

Role Purpose

Since 2015 Street Soccer has been delivering Football themed personal development qualifications within 12 prisons across Scotland to both men and women, focusing on building transferable life skills and self-esteem to best prepare for release. Street Soccer players who have engaged in our Prisons Programme are 9x less likely to experience prison or probation following their engagement.

We are now pleased to be delivering our Prisons Programme in partnership with SACRO. This exciting partnership means that we are looking to expand our team delivering this programme across East & West Scotland to support delivering the programme to our players but also to support those nearing liberation and then through the gate into our 60 community drop-in sessions that take place across the country.

With funding from the Glasgow Communities Fund, Shettleston Community Growing Project (SCGP) is recruiting a Project Worker to join our team to work with the local community in Shettleston and surrounding areas. SCGP is a community organisation based in the heart of Shettleston. SCGP provides community gardening plots and runs activities for the community.

The post will focus on engaging with the community, networking with local organisations, and developing services aligned with community needs.

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual who believes in community empowerment and has experience in community development with strong networking and communication skills. You will have experience in marketing and social media, as well as organising community events and workshops.

You may have thought that leprosy is an ancient Biblical disease, but today someone is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes. It is a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Stigma and discrimination mean many people with leprosy hide their symptoms for as long as possible, living in terrible fear of what will happen to them. But without fast treatment, leprosy can cause blindness and disable hands and feet.

The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is the world’s largest leprosy-focused organisation, a pioneer in our field, with over 150 years’ experience serving people affected by this disease. We are a leading international development charity, working in nine countries across Africa and Asia. We are Christ-centered, following His leading to defeat leprosy and transform lives.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to develop and deliver fundraising plans in Scotland, and to provide excellent care for faithful Scottish supporters. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across Scotland.

You’ll be part of a supportive fundraising management team based in Peterborough. We have a culture of growing and learning together, providing extensive training in fundraising and international development. You’ll also have opportunities to visit projects overseas and see your work first hand.

We’re looking for:

• A relational public speaker, experienced in engaging audiences including churches, community groups and businesses

• Proven success in fundraising

• A confident networker

• Experience of managing volunteers

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Willingness to work on Sundays and evenings as required, and occasional Saturdays

• The ability to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy.

A valid UK driving license is an essential requirement for the role. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a work health questionnaire.
