The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 2,500 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. We are currently seeking a skilled individual to act as the Treasurer on our Board of Trustees The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing financial matters on behalf of our Board and will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation has robust financial processes to ensure it meets its legal and constitutional requirements.
This role could appeal to a finance professional (accountant or auditor) who is mid-career and wishing to undertake some personal and professional development or to a later career stage professional who is perhaps adjusting their work/life balance or is recently retired, and wishing to use their experience, make a difference and give something back to the community.
This voluntary role would include three/four board meetings a year (currently a mix of in person and online), one of these being our Annual Vision Review Weekend held in March. Attendance at our AGM held online).

We are recruiting a suitably experienced Finance Officer professional to support the Finance Manager in the development and maintenance of financial and accounting systems, auditing financial records and investigating financial anomalies.
You will be responsible for providing financial support to our local and national services whilst adhering to organisational finance procedures. You will deliver effective, efficient, and accurate financial administrative support to the Finance Manager, Area Managers and the Finance team and work collaboratively with SCMA colleagues. Key responsibilities include day to day bookkeeping & invoicing, producing monthly reconciliations and financial reports & forecasts for the local and national services.
Excellent Excel and IT skills are vital, as are strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines. The Finance Officer will have experience in a similar or related role, with experience of all aspects of finance processing. The postholder is required to have proven ability to prioritise work, present information, and forward plan.

You may have thought that leprosy is an ancient Biblical disease, but today someone is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes. It is a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Stigma and discrimination mean many people with leprosy hide their symptoms for as long as possible, living in terrible fear of what will happen to them. But without fast treatment, leprosy can cause blindness and disable hands and feet.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to develop and deliver fundraising plans in Scotland, and to provide excellent care for faithful Scottish supporters. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across Scotland.
You’ll be part of a supportive fundraising management team based in Peterborough. We have a culture of growing and learning together, providing extensive training in fundraising and international development. You’ll also have opportunities to visit projects overseas and see your work first hand.

Samaritans Scotland
Join a friendly, supportive, and ambitious staff team in Scotland. Our established Policy and Communications team is working with a range of external stakeholders including the Scottish Government, MSPs and local partners to achieve change and have an impact on suicide risk. There are around 1000 Samaritans volunteers across Scotland working in our 19 branches. These volunteers respond to calls for help every day of the week via telephone, e-mail, text and in person at our branches or at events across Scotland. Scottish Women’s Aid has an exciting opportunity to Head up their policy team. This is an influential and dynamic position, where the role holder will be responsible for leading on a diverse range of policy areas and levers for change to end domestic abuse and violence against women and girls in Scotland. They will be a key member of the Senior leadership team and will support and manage a team of policy officers, identify, shape an develop policy priorities, and SWA’s campaigning an advocacy work in line with our strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Head of Policy shares responsibility for the leadership of the organisation and the management of people, services and resources. They will also work closely with the Membership, Training and Communications teams.
Background
Scottish Women’s Aid is the lead organisation in Scotland working to end domestic abuse. We are both a children's rights and a women's rights organisation.
- We directly campaign to institutions and leaders for policies and laws that address the drivers of women’s inequality and improve responses to domestic abuse. This work makes women and children safer and helps them disentangle themselves from their abusers.
- We provide training to public and private bodies from the police and judiciary to child welfare systems, to effectively respond to survivors.
- We raise the profile of domestic abuse nationally and internationally so that domestic abuse is treated like the critical threat to human rights that it is.
- We host Scotland’s 24-Hour Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline to ensure help is always available while actively supporting a network of 33 specialist local Women’s Aid services that directly support and provide refuge to women and children of Scotland affected by domestic abuse
- We are the umbrella organisation for 33 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.
What you’ll do
Working with the Chief Executive, Policy and other teams within SWA, you will develop and implement strategies to achieve key objectives on policy social change. You will provide leadership and line management to the Policy Team to ensure that SWA achieves its strategic objectives. You will collaborate on and direct work including but not limited to; analysis and challenge of government and public policy reports, development of consultation responses, parliamentary briefings, and policy and advocacy materials for a range of audiences. You will build strong relationships and work collaboratively with government officials, other organisations and charities to influence and promote SWA policy and objectives, representing SWA well to target audiences, including government and Parliamentary liaison where you will speak at public events, committees and give evidence.
What We Need
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Experience in a similar role, with strong leadership skills working across a range of complex issues to develop and deliver effective policy and strategy.
- Awareness and understanding of the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and the impact on women, children and young people
- Knowledge and understanding of the UK and Scottish policy and legislative context in relation to violence against women and children and domestic abuse in Scotland, and the environment in which SWA operates, including the opportunities and risks it faces.
- Experience of leading, supporting and managing teams and of providing line management of staff, including the supervision and quality assurance of policy work.
- Excellent written skills, demonstrable track record of leading research, analysis and development of government public policy reports, consultation responses, briefings and advocacy materials
- Communications experience, you’ll be skilled in the ability to engage confidently with a range of different audiences, building maintaining alliances with key stakeholders and speaking with government minsters, MP’s/MSP’s, to committees and at events.
Location
