We are recruiting a Community Development Worker - an exciting new role within our organisation, linked to the North East Culture Collective initiative. The role will support community engagement and development objectives, with a particular focus on exploring the role of creativity and culture in engaging and empowering communities.

We are looking for an exceptional, passionate individual to join our team as Community Development Worker for an initial fixed term of 12 months, with the potential for a permanent post following the one-year period, dependent on funding.

As our Community Development Worker, in liaison with shmu’s Community Development Manager you will work closely with community and statutory partners, using creativity, community media and culture to engage and empower marginalised communities, giving a voice to those who are usually missed out.

You will have a specific focus on building on and developing relationships within communities of the regeneration areas of Aberdeen City, as well as with communities of interest who have experienced marginalisation and under/mis-representation. You will also support our work in testing out new ways of working between communities and public services (initially within Woodside and the Central locality area) with a view to establishing how a more creative approach can effectively be used to engage and empower communities in an Aberdeen context.

The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient, effective, and sustainable financial management for the Scottish Pantry Network and its Subsidiary, aligned with its mission to promote food security and provide member support across Scotland. This role includes managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring strong financial governance, and developing strategies that contribute to the long-term sustainability of the Network.

Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all financial processes support the organisation’s growth and impact within local communities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management

• Prepare year-end financial statements in line with charity regulations.
• Assist external auditors with annual audits and provide all required financial documents.
• Develop and manage annual core and project budgets that align with the Network’s strategic goals.
• Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports for funders and the Board.
• Oversee payroll calculations and maintain payroll records for all staff.
• Administer day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Lead financial planning and forecasting efforts to support the Network’s strategic plan.
• Regularly report on the financial position of the organisation to the Board, funding partners, and other stakeholders.

2. Contracts and Procurement

• Review and manage all external contracts to ensure cost efficiency and service quality.
• Oversee procurement processes, ensuring that they adhere to good practice and are resource-efficient.

3. Corporate Governance

• Attend regular Management and Board meetings, providing financial insights and recommendations.
• Prepare verbal and written financial reports for the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.
• Ensure compliance with OSCR, Companies House, and other relevant regulatory bodies, ensuring timely submissions of required reports.

4. Strategic Planning

• Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies that support the long-term sustainability and growth of the Scottish Pantry Network.
• Collaborate on the creation of funding bids and grant applications, providing financial expertise and budgetary input.
• Develop and update financial policies and procedures to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the organisation.

5. General Duties

• Line-manage the Policy Officer and provide oversight of financial training and development.
• Contribute to organisational impact by identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures.
• Support the management team by analysing financial data for strategic decision-making.
• Play an active role in risk management, advising the CEO on potential financial risks and mitigation strategies.
• Uphold and promote the values of the Scottish Pantry Network, promoting a team-oriented environment and supporting collaboration with external partners.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Qualifications:

• Degree in accounting or a related discipline
• Five years of experience, including two years at a senior level

Knowledge and Experience:

• Proven experience managing annual audits and payroll
• Strong knowledge of financial management within the charity or third sector
• Experience leading and managing financial teams or staff

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple projects

Desirable Criteria

Qualifications:

• Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ICAS, CIPFA)

Knowledge and Experience:

• Previous experience working within the voluntary or food security sector
• Track record of securing funding and experience in developing business plans
• Familiarity with contract management and regulatory compliance

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation is a UK-wide charity that exists to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation. We’re bold, we’re pioneering, we’re growing and we want your help.

Our Edinburgh based team – formerly known as Stop It Now Scotland – covers the whole of the country. Our practitioners have extensive backgrounds in child protection and sex offender rehabilitation. We provide individual and groupwork to around 150 adults and adolescents every year who present a sexual risk of harm to children who cannot access statutory service. We work with around 100 partners, family members and members of wider networks around these individuals. We use what we learn from our work to develop and deliver resources, information and training for professionals and the public, so that they can better protect children from harm and prevent abuse before it happens.

About you and the role

We are recruiting a Fundraising & Partnerships Manager to join our multi-disciplinary team in Edinburgh to lead the delivery of our business development and fundraising strategies, supporting our ambition to increase the volume of specialist support, training and spot purchased assessments we provide for social work, charities and child facing agencies. Working with the director, you will help develop and sustain appropriate strategic partnerships and identify opportunities for development, reviewing resource implications, risk, income potential and likelihood of success.

You will also work closely with our Fundraising Manager, based in our Epsom office, leading on charitable income generation through writing bids that directly apply for funds from a range of bodies. Developing effective and impactful methods to report on the impact of our services and relationship management with funders is a key part of this role.

This exciting role will play a big part in supporting our efforts to shift the discourse about child sexual abuse ‘upstream’ so that professionals and the public understand in practical terms what they can do to prevent sexual abuse before it happens. We believe our work can only build and grow and lead to the better protection of children from harm through developing our partnerships across a range of sectors (education, social work, leisure services, law enforcement, Scottish government, third sector, safeguarding leads in faith and belief communities, business and corporate sectors, etc), The successful candidate will need to be a good communicator who is committed to the concept of child sexual abuse as a preventable public health issue.

Our ideal candidate will be a dynamic professional who is proactive and outcome focused with exceptional communication and relationship skills. We are looking for someone who can develop knowledge of national and local policy and strategy within the external environment to inform business development, influence potential commissioners and where appropriate, co-design services with agencies. An understanding of tendering and public contracts will be an advantage.
