Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to local people.

The Lay Representation Service improves access to justice through the delivery of a high-quality free advice and representation service for people seeking assistance with mortgage repossession, rent arrears and sequestration within Hamilton and Lanark Sheriff Courts.

You will have experience of managing a busy public facing multi-channel advice service with quality and care for our citizens at its heart. You will be an experienced lay representative within a civil court environment, an excellent communicator, and team player, confident decision-maker with the ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations. As a member of our Management Team, you will lead on Housing advice and training. Our staff are our strongest asset so their wellbeing matters. This role is pivotal in driving our fundraising efforts and fostering business development opportunities to support the sustainability and expansion of our organisation and the services we provide to our community.

To provide clients with holistic advice covering debt, income maximisation, energy. This will include preparation of financial statements, explanation of debt options and assistance to access these options. The role will require the ability to interact with clients over the telephone, face to face and using digital channels to provide advice.

Ongoing training will be provided however you should be someone who can demonstrate experience of working with clients who are experiencing multiple and complex issues and who can provide advice sensitively and with confidence to clients.

In addition to managing a caseload you may also be required to work on a duty rota for dealing with initial money advice contacts and for covering outreach services as required, as well as providing 2nd-tier support to other advisers within the Bureau.

You should have an understanding of the effects of financial difficulties and financial hardship on our clients. You should be an excellent team player with a desire to progress with training to meet the standards required.

In this role you will support the North Highlands Consortium of 4 citizens advice bureaux, all independent charities which provide free, impartial and confidential advice and information that give people the tools they need to sort out any issues or problems.

Your role will be to design, instigate and deliver a programme of corporate and other fundraising and sponsorship to raise funds for the North Highlands Consortium bureaux. Success in this role will mean our services can be maintained and expanded, now and into the future, enabling people in our communities to prosper and thrive.
