Barnardo's Intensive Service Project Worker

Barnardo's Intensive services are offering an exciting opportunity to join an established team who deliver Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice models of support to families. You will be required to deliver direct services to families who have complex needs and who are at risk of family breakdown. You will have experience of working with children and families and a working knowledge of attachment theories in practice.

Barnardo's has had a presence in Fife for over 20 years, working with children and families has been a consistent feature of our services in Fife. For both our intensive service, Stronger Families and Barnardo's Empowering Change service has been in existence for several years. Families must be referred to both these service by a social worker, live in the Fife area, have children aged between 0-13 yrs old and are typically on the verge of family breakdown.

You will be required to work intensively with the family and partner agencies to ensure that, where possible, relationships within the home improve and children can safely remain at home. Due to the intensive nature of the work, your caseload will be smaller to enable the number of hours required per week and the time to build positive working relationships.

You will be required to design and deliver direct services to families who have a range of complex needs. Experience of working with children and families and a working knowledge of attachment theories and Trauma Informed Practice would be extremely desirable as would a knowledge of The Promise and it's implications for service delivery. About Outreach Dundee

Aberlour Family Outreach Dundee provides support to families who are struggling to cope as a result of drug and alcohol use within the family. We give children a trusted person they can talk to, while supporting parents to create a safe environment for their children through addressing their dependency and improving parenting confidence.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for Child and Family Workers to work up to 22.5 hours per week, predominantly during Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm with the occasional need to work out with these times depending on the needs of the families. Working pattern will be negotiable and flexible hours will be considered. Please include your preferred amount of working hours per week in your supporting statement. This role is funded until March 2025 with the possibility of continued funding beyond this.

You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 6 or above, together with relevant experience of working with children or young people. You must also be able to demonstrate awareness of the key elements of working with people affected by substance use as well as an understanding of, and commitment to, young people’s rights.

Barnardo's Highland have developed a partnership service with the Highland Council, supporting care experienced children and young people with additional needs.

This service within Highland which will looks at the individual needs of children and young people and develop bespoke care packages using a right based, trauma informed approach working with the whole family around the child. This may include bespoke residential provision.

The team working with the children enrich their lives through care, support and activities which will are aimed at raising self-esteem, promoting a sense of mastery, and enabling the children to access experiences that are individually tailored to their interests and nurture their talents. The team work with the wider partnership to ensure that Educational and Health needs are met.
