We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Officer to join Fast Forward’s Going Forward Programme Team. This role will have a focus on formal and informal education settings.

Fast Forward is Scotland’s national youth work agency, focusing on supporting children & young people to make informed choices regarding, and take a harm reduction approach to, risk-taking behaviours, towards reducing the negative impacts of these on their lives and those of their families and wider community.

Going Forward Project Background The Going Forward Project works with partner organisations to deliver workshop sessions to young people in formal and informal education settings. Our sessions focus on core themes of health, wellbeing and risk-taking behaviours, particularly:  substance misuse (alcohol, drugs, tobacco, e-cigarettes/vaping)  sexual health and relationships  online safety  drink spiking  consent  self-esteem and resilience  gambling harms

Purpose of the Job

This is a unique opportunity to manage our enterprise centre called Start Up Street in Paisley.

In this enterprise centre we support young people who are facing barriers to start and grow their own businesses. Our programmes include an incubation programme with subsidised space, business support, mentoring and guidance and a programme of prestart enterprise support, business training and events.

This role involves continuing to manage the hub locally and creating a hive of enterprise activity, premises management and client recruitment and support. The right candidate must be a self-starter and able to work on their own. They must have excellent people skills, enterprise knowledge and be able to develop and support the young people we are working with as well as developing local partnerships. They will be expected to meet targets including building occupancy, increased survival, and prosperity of the businesses in their charge. Ultimately this exciting role is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person who is able to offer great opportunities for young start-ups in Paisley who engage with Launch It.

About the Role

The Children and Young People Practitioner will work across Glasgow schools and communities to build the mental health knowledge and skills of children, young people, parents, carers, volunteers and staff through mental health capacity building workshops, training programmes, information sessions and resources.

Delivery will also include individual and group work support to young people who are experiencing low mood and anxiety.

What we are looking for

We are looking for individuals with experience delivering individual support and group work to young people around their mental health and wellbeing. They will also be experienced in workshop facilitation, training delivery and development.

With exceptional communication skills and ability to manage own case load, the Children and Young People Practitioner will work flexibly to deliver the wide range of programmes on offer, whilst ensuring practice is of the highest quality at all times.

A driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post.
