This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on peoples’ lives and in the community.
Inspired Community Enterprise Trust (ICET) based in Dumfries, creates employability training, and wider citizenship opportunities for young people with additional support needs (ASN). We support young people with ASN to gain vocational training and SQV accredited qualifications through our Social Enterprise Training Café, The Usual Place, and a growing events business which provide a range of hospitality focussed vocational learning opportunities.
Statistically, employment outcomes for people with learning disabilities are extremely low, with national employment rates between 4-8%. This is compared to over 74% employment for the general population. The experiences of the young people we work with reflect that gap and is evidenced in feelings of isolation, exclusion, low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Our mission at ICET is to work for local change and better employment outcomes for young people. As a progressive provider for rights-based development we play an active leadership role in supporting statutory partners to understand how our communities can become fairer places to live and work and help break down barriers to enable this achievement.
ICET is a financially strong organisation with exciting opportunities ahead of us, so it’s a great time for someone looking for a career defining opportunity to expand their strategic leadership experience within an organisation with a strong social purpose and progressive people culture.
About the role
Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Trustees you will play a pivotal role in shaping the continued success of ICET in ensuring the voices of young people are heard and their aspirations enabled. Key responsibilities include providing leadership and management of colleagues, programmes, and resources to implement ICET’s strategic and operational plans effectively.
As a highly motivated and emotionally intelligent leader, you'll demonstrate sound judgement under pressure and possess strong problem-solving skills. Your commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace will be evident, aligning with ICET's vision and values.
What you will bring
As an established strategic leader, you will bring experience of working with key stakeholders and an ability to develop good relationships with Government bodies, public bodies, charities and private sector agencies as well as user and carer groups. All with a view to influencing, informing and reshaping public policy around employment opportunities for young people with ASN.
The role at ICET is anything but commonplace. The above attributes would ideally be combined with the experience of running a social enterprise noted for great customer service and in conjunction with the COO, transforming the business operations of the organisation.
A place where everyone can thrive is reflected in our Values.
Everyone is of equal value. Everyone can contribute to their community. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
ICET have a competitive benefits package including 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays and mandatory shut down period over Christmas/ New Year) and an employee pension scheme with ICET contributing 3% of salary. We are a Living Wage employer and a Disability Confident Leader looking to reduce the disability employment gap.
