Could you work in Independent Advocacy?
Qualifications, skills and past work or records:
You do not need qualifications to start. You will receive induction training and relevant training to support you in your role. We work to Independent Advocacy Principles & Standards and Codes of Best Practice, and all independent advocates are required to follow the guidance of how we practice.
The work we do is all about people.
Independent advocacy works from a ‘rights-based’ perspective through the Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross’ Values of Human Rights, Independence, Partner-Led, Honesty, Courage and Empowerment. We live and breathe IAPK’s values through our own behaviour and by inspiring and guiding others in the way we work.
Every person we support has their own background and interests, so Independent Advocacy Perth & Kinross needs a diverse workforce to match. Do you have warmth respect and patience to work with people who are experiencing significant challenges in their lives? Do you believe people should be able to make their own choices; have a say about what happens in their life and to make sure their voices are heard? Then independent advocacy could be for you!
When you apply, and progress through the interview stage we would then run background checks through Disclosure Scotland - You can’t pass or fail; they just share information. We then assess any risk and decide whether to offer a position at that point. If you are worried about this, talk about it at your interview – it is best we hear anything you feel may get in the way from you.
What role is available?
IAPK deliver independent advocacy to a variety of people in the community. We’re really excited to be able to advertise a new and exciting post which is for a fixed term period of 12 months. We’re looking to employ a Collective Advocacy Co-ordinator who will be working with the New Scots in Perth & Kinross
