Role
Parkhead CAB is seeking applications for suitably experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our staff team.
Citizens Advice Bureaux (CABx) have two aims, to:
- Provide advice and information to ensure people can claim their rights.
- Campaign on the basis of evidence to advocate for policy and legislative change to improve people’s lives.
The eight Glasgow Citizens Advice Bureaux have an exciting new social policy project which aims to build the capacity of CABx to campaign and advocate to address the root causes of problems faced by CAB clients. The project will employ two people, this advert is for a Social Policy Officer who will work across the Glasgow CABx and with Citizens Advice Scotland staff on national and local campaigns and influencing initiatives to advocate for legal and policy change to improve people’s lives. The new social project is looking to recruit, two people with the skills and experience to:
- Recruit, train and support dedicated social policy workers in the Glasgow CABx
- Undertake local campaigns to address issues of financial inclusion and benefit take up
- Gather, analyse and document the evidence of client issues to support local and national advocacy and campaigning
- Develop, implement, evaluate and document a model of building capacity for social policy work that can be rolled out across 59 members of the Scottish CABx Network
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate, initiative, innovative ideas for campaigning and advocacy, excellent communication skills, understanding of working with volunteers and a commitment to the values and principles of the CABx network.
The post will be managed by Parkhead CABx, but work will take place across the 8 bureaux and those employed must be prepared to visit each CAB regularly. The post is for two years in the first instance with the plan to make the post permanent in the future.

Working with the Strategy, Governance, Performance, and Risk (SGPR) Team, the Data Governance Officer will help us ensure all data is findable, accessible, safe, and secure. You will support the Data Governance Lead on wide range of activities including records management, data protection compliance, information risk, and data quality. You will be a first line point of contact for data and information requests and other records management and data protection-related matters. As Data Governance Officer, you will understand the importance of data quality, records management, data protection by design, and best practice to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act, and help foster a positive data governance culture within Citizens Advice Scotland and the 59 Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) across Scotland.

The Data Analyst is responsible for providing analysis and report capabilities to the Citizens Advice Network in Scotland. You will interpret and analyse data using statistical techniques producing reports to support performance management and reporting to funders. You will analyse data and interpret trends or patterns in complex datasets, helping support business needs and decision making. The Data Analyst will support with data quality work, cleaning data and supporting the data team with quality improvement plans to ensure a robust data set.
Working within our Data Team the successful candidate will actively contribute to the provision of data support to the Citizens Advice Network in Scotland. The Network relies upon on high quality data to deliver advice services and to inform and drive our influencing work that aims to improve public policy and service delivery.
Over the next year the team will be working on improving our data quality processes and exploring the potential of technology such as Power BI. This is a good opportunity for someone with experience of working with data to develop their career, or for a recent graduate of a relevant discipline who is looking to apply their knowledge.

What we are looking for
We are looking to recruit a number of Board members.
We welcome applicants from any background and experience, including people who have been personally impacted. We welcome all skills but do have particular skills gaps we would love to bring on board–
- Case Management Systems – to have oversight of and help us develop an appropriate system.
- Treasurer - Accounting/Finance experience to help us with oversight of our funding and statutory reporting.
- Human Resources.
- Business development/growth – particularly Social Enterprises / Community Interest Companies.

One of the key priorities of GamCare Scotland is to reach out to individuals, families, and communities to make it easier to talk about gambling and gambling related harms. This is done by working across the region to engage with underserved communities and ensure everyone can access information and support.
As Outreach and Engagement Practitioner you will be responsible for building effective working partnerships with professional services through the delivery of presentations, networking and creating new referral pathways for those needing support from GamCare services.
You will be integral in making GamCare services accessible as you work within a committed team to achieve this aim.
To meet the needs of the service the role may include some evenings and occasional weekends.
About you
You will be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) and have the ability to present and tailor content for a range of professional and public audiences on sensitive topics.
You will be experienced in community-based work and have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to champion our vision for gambling support across our region.
